Photos and Description of this County Cork holiday cottage 3 bedroom house to sleep 5, real fire, Aga style range, roof terrace.

The house was built in the early 19th Century and is reputedly the oldest house in Bantry. We have just finished an extensive but sensitive renovation project, which has involved fitting new doors, floors, roof and windows. There are wood floors throughout and a large kitchen diner to seat 6. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, hob, washing machine, tumble dryer and Stanley traditional range cooker. The cosy but spacious living room will seat six and has a coal/log fire. The futon sofa will convert to a double bed. There are three bedrooms, two double and one single. The single bedroom is accessed through one of the double bedrooms. The bathroom has a large cast iron bath and a shower. All the bedrooms have pleasant views of the countryside. Outside there is a large, attractive patio and upstairs is a roof terrace with views over Bantry and the surrounding countryside. There is a single garage for one car. The house is Irish Tourist Board approved with 3 *

Bantry is a small coastal town with a lovely harbour and beach within ten minutes walk from the house. The coast and countryside is stunningly beautiful. The Sheep’s Head, Mizen Head and Beara Peninsulas, with their villages, inlets and beaches are a short drive away. There are wonderful hill walks through dramatic landscapes and passes, and quiet country lanes around the Borlin and Mealagh Valleys, which are ideal for cycling and horse riding. There are numerous literary and music festival held in the Bantry area during July and August Fresh fish and Bantry Bay prawns are for sale in the town. Golfing, fishing and pony trekking nearby. Bantry has all the basic amenities, and a lively market on Friday where everything from fresh vegetables to live animals to second-hand tools and furniture are sold.

Simply a lovely place to be

I had the best sleep, not sure if it was the Irish air or the mattress which was perfect for me. Our four year old was particularly attached to the cottage and still keeps talking about it. They have done a great job of creating a modern and functional cottage with period character. We are already missing waking up and stoking up the Stanley for it's ambient warmth and curling up next to the crackling fire in the evening.

We arrived late at night so I was awestruck on my morning run when I got to the end of the road and was greeted by a beautiful estaury surrounded by mist covered lush green hills, the spray of the waves as I ran around the harbour wall was the perfect wake up.

Would definitely come again, 5 days wasn't enough!

Beautiful Bantry in Gorgeous Cottage

Mine and my families recent stay in Bantry can only be described as Brilliant! I went with my husband and our three children and we found the cottage to be perfectly sized for our family with all the neceaasry appliances and equipment which made self catering and staying in on rainy days pleasurable. This was our first visit to this part of Ireland, we found it to be a charming part of the world with stunning suroundings and close towns and villages to venture into. I'd strongly recomend the numerous "sweater shops" in nearby Glengarrif for some well crafted gifts and clothes.

An Authentic Irish Idyll

Myself and my wife stayed here for a week and had a fantastic time. Bantry is a charming seaside town, and this cottage is perfectly located within it. It retains its original features (fireplace and stanley), whilst managing to remain surprisingly modern. The owners were on call and very approachable. Highly recommended.
