You will enjoy a charming 18th. C. barn, renovated in 2008 by an interior architect. It successfully combines the best classic cantabrian look with modern comfort and beautiful furniture and paintings. It is situated within a complex of historical houses and wonderful old private fruit-orchard. The cottage (80 m2) has been turned into a loft (7m high) and it is perfect for a couple (and child) or 2, 3 friends. The surrounded village is the quiet romantic hamlet of Ruiloba, set in a peaceful countryside. The living-room (35 m2) with its exclusive fabrics and details, as well as its fireplace, can receive six to eight persons. This duplex barn opens the triple door to a private terrace (10 m2) which looks out over the owner’s garden (900 m2).

This house is very near (2km) from protected beaches Oyambre and Gerra, and not far from the Regional Park of Cabarceno and the largest National Park in Spain “Picos de Europa”.Also nearby are the rivers of Cares and Sella. The house’s location affords easy access to the most elegant and historic cities of Northern Coast, such Santander (summer university ), Santillana del Mar (medieval city), San Vicente de la Barquera ( Roman fishing village).The nearest town( 5mn ) is Comillas, with its friendly shops, antique stores, a produce market, restaurants and magnificent buildings such as the “Capricho” by Gaudi.

Spanish and French conversational language classes are available as well as gourmet cooking courses. We can also organise bookings for cultural and gastronomic tours. A little bit of culture...: As far as culture goes, the area has much to offer: the International Festival of Santander, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (1 hour), many Romanesque churches and the prehistoric caves of Altamira, Soplao, Puente Viesgo.And you’ll find yourself on the famous pilgrim’s route to Santiago de Compostela.

Ski: In winter, it is possible to hunt and to go fishing in rivers. You can make trekking in Potes and ski in Alto Campoo (1 hour).

Golf: You must spend an unforgettable holiday if you like sports, and the favourite region sport is golf .You have a lot of golf-courses (10 mn.): Santa Marina designed by Ballesteros, Rovacias, Oyambre, Pedreña. In Ruiloba, you will enjoy horsing, motor quad, cycling. There are many environmental protected areas where it is easy to observe birds, chamois, and bears.

The location of the cottage is very good, near 2 very long and not crowded beaches. There are also good walks in nearby fields and woods. The cottage is very clean, well kept and tastefully decorated. The owner is a charming lady, and provides all customers needs, laundry, etc.
It is situated next to the village main square, and in the village and around nearby are good and not expensive restaurants with excellent local food, very good fish, meat and sea food. You can make beautiful excursions to interesting and /or magnificent scenery. The owner can advise you. You of course need a car , which you can park by the cottage. I recommend this place for a nice, quiet holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this romantic wonderfully furnished and clean house. Everything was as as stated and we had a lovely welcome which included a good dinner (homecooked) and served to us in the casita by the charming owner.

The surrounding countryside and nearby coastline are beautiful so great for walking or bathing. There are also some interesting cultural sites in the nearby towns. An ideal place to stay if you're looking for a peaceful, break....with both mountains and coast in reach.
We even had some sunshine as well!

We enjoyed the awesome site, the nice house, the warm welcome of the owner and the care she took in preparing everything and answering our questions.
The site is in the centre of a very old, very charming village, next to some bars, the church, an ancient pilgrim path and five minutes to the beach by car.
Fully recommandable. Perfect for two. Consider, if you come with kids, that they don't have a separate room, but sleep downstairs.
