General:
Puglia is wonderful at any time of year - July and August get hot, but in the hills, the Murge, above the coastal plain the heat is not oppressive. There is something for everyone here, whether your interest is gastronomy, wine-tasting, sightseeing or walking and enjoying the beaches. Eating is one of Puglia's pleasures, with a robust local cuisine as well as seafood from the seas off its enormously long coastline. Puglia is famed for its wines, with powerful reds including Primitivo, and the famed whites of Locorotondo. The architecure spans Messapian, Greek and Roman civilsations, with Norman castles and cathedrals, Byzantine cave churches and rock crypts, flamboyant Baroque churches, elegant 18th century town palaces and more. Every town is a hive of activity on summer evenings with many festivals to tempt every taste in music, dance and theatre.
There's a choice of international airports within easy reach - Bari or Brindisi (slightly nearer), so getting here is simple.
