The townhouse is bright and comfortably furnished and located close to everything the village has to offer. The house features a modern, fully equipped kitchen with american bar and a spacious living/dining room with television, DVD player, lots of books and a large selection of toys and games. Upstairs there are three bedrooms (one double and two singles or one double and a twin with a spare room). All the bedrooms have french windows with balconies and there is a lovely family bathroom with full-length bath and powerful shower. The roof terrace has a wooden table and four chairs and there are sun loungers for sunbathing in complete privacy. This is the perfect place for evening drinks at sunset as you look over the whole village and the surrounding mountains and forest. The bedrooms and downstairs living area have eco-efficient radiators and there is a wood-burning fire so the house is always cosy and warm even in winter. A ceiling fan cools the main bedroom in summer.

The townhouse is located in the very heart of El Colmenar, also known as Estacion de Gaucin, and has a panoramic roof terrace offering complete privacy, spectacular views and ideal for barbeques. You can picnic by, or swim in, the beautiful fresh water river, less than 5 minutes walk away. The river sources nearby in the stunning canyon so it is always fresh and clean. On walks to the canyon, or through the beautiful cork forest, you'll see deer, goats, mules, birds of prey and much more. The area is popular with hikers and cyclists and a local company offers cycle safari tours. The family-friendly beaches of Estepona are under an hour by car and the surfers beaches of the Costa de la Luz are 1.5 hours by car. The village has a few shops and a vibrant social life with great quality restaurants yet also offers a very relaxing environment ideal for those who enjoy nature. The scenic train line through the village connects Gibraltar (1 hour away) and Ronda (45 minutes).

Great Christmas week, lovely home

We just want to share our wonderful experience in El Colmenar thanks to Michelle & Paul. The town is a cute little village tucked in the Mountains. It was great for our family as we hiked, did some fishing and relaxed a lot. The house that Michelle and Paul have built was perfect! It had everything we needed. The place had games, movies for the kids and lots of books to read. The town itself offers great places to eat and the folks in the town were very friendly and helpful. Everybody talks about the beach that the city Hall sets up along the river in the summer, so we will have to go back.
Owner's Response: We're thrilled you had such a fun time and were able to enjoy all the books and games etc - we have tried to provide a good mix of things for different ages! The river beach is even more popular than ever and the Town Hall recently planted more trees to give shade. Hope to see you again soon for more Christmas festivities!

Superb house, inviting roof terrace.

My wife and I have just returned from a week at your house in Gaucin, the house was superb, plenty of space, very well equipped and the roof terrace was very inviting. The position was ideal for us as we didnt have a car, only 2 minutes walk from the railway station, with easy access to Algeciras and Gibraltar in one direction and Ronda and Granada in the other direction. I think we liked it best because it was nice and quiet, just what we needed - wish we could have stayed longer.
Owner's Response: It is always great to hear that people can enjoy the village just as well without a car, especially as the train rides in/out of the village take you along the stunning canyon. We are glad the roof terrace was so inviting - we have just put up a large shade that can be easily adjusted and it means you can enjoy time there whatever the time of day.

We had a very lovely and quiet two weeks. We've stayed in much smaller and remote villages in Spain, but never one so quiet! No early morning cockerels! No constantly barking dogs! We were very happy with the house, it’s nicely appointed and central.
