Walking distance to Place de Lices and the Old Port you are never far from the glamour of St Tropez.
St. Tropez parties late, which is to say all night long. First come drinks after dinner, then everyone migrates to Les Caves du Roy to see who's around, and then maybe the slightly friskier Papagayo, where it's common to buy a $400 bottle of Champagne and spray it over the crowd. English is common, as the nighttime mix includes bankers from Milan, the odd Austrian prince, burned-out rock stars, American rappers, and nearly every beautiful young woman in France.
There are a few beaches on the Baie de St. Tropez, east of town, but most are along the beautiful Baie de Pampelonne, three miles southwest of town (technically in Ramatuelle). While a few are public, you can only access the worthiest stretches by paying admission to one of the beach clubs such as Club 55, Nikky and Tahiti.
