Gamekeepers Cottage - Alloway

Right from our arrival at the cottage we were made to feel at home by Hue and Elizabeth. The cottage itself is first class and very well maintained.

There are many places to visit in the area including the very impressive Culzean Castle perched on top of the costal cliffs, Loch Lomand is less than 2 hours away and is well worth a visit.

We found the cottage to a good base for walking, either along the coastal paths or up in the Galloway Forest Park.

The food in the area is first class, with many resturants to choose from within a 15min drive from the cottage, the Alloway Arms is just a 5 min. walk from the cottage and the excellent Brig 'o' doon Hotel which is a 10 min drive.

The Brg 'o' doon was made famous by Robbie Burns who was born and lived in Alloway.

We cannot praise our hosts Hue and Elizabeth enough, nothing was to much for them to ensure you had a great time.

Fist class holiday - we would recommend that you try it for yourselves.

Absolutely Brilliant

We stayed in the Gamekeepers cottage for 5 days in September and the whole experience from start to finish was superb. The cottage itself surpassed all our expectations. It was immaculate throughout and is without doubt the best cottage we have ever stayed in.

The location (next to the 14th green) was excellent and we watched (glass in hand) many weary golfers trudging up the fairway from our vantage point on the patio decking.

The 2 retaurants and 1 tea shop we tried (all within walking distance were of a very high standard and I challenge anyone to find a better situated tea shop.

Elizabeth and Hue was as helpful as could me and we will definitely return.

In the heart of a great golfing region

The property was an ideal base for our golf holiday, being close to most of Ayrshire's great golf courses. Situated overlooking a golf hole, the property is a very relaxing and pleasing place to stay. There are many very good restaurants in the area, including the excellent Brig'o'doon, which is a must visit.
The owners were very helpful and keep the property in excellent condition. There is ample car parking space, and a great deck area where you could have barbeque's.
Overall, very impressive.

Stayed here in May 2009 for 4 weeks. Very convenient for Ayr town center and beach. Good walks in park nearby and handy for golfers. Nicely rennovated with good modern kitchen.
