Casa de las Flores is a beautiful, self-catering holiday rental located in the Sortes district of Órgiva in the heart of La Alpujarra in Andalusia, southern Spain. It is a terraced villa built in the traditional Alpujarran style, consisting of 5 separate air-conditioned and centrally heated apartments (2 on long-term rental) and two swimming pools. The views of Órgiva and the surrounding mountains are absolutely stunning. Each apartment is self-contained with its own entrance, a kitchen/dining/living area, bedrooms, bathroom(s) and private terrace for outdoor living. All apartments have Freeview TV and Internet access. Secure lock-up and washdown facilities for bicycles. B&B and half board available on request. There is a central laundry with automatic washing machine and tumble dryer. The large pool is a great place to relax during the hot summer days. Jasmin (No1) has a private pool. As a holiday rental, you will find Casa de las Flores hard to match in this area.

Air-conditioned, centrally heated, two-bedroom apartment with two private terraces and private swimming pool; sleeps up to 6 (1 double, 2 singles, plus double sofa bed). Jazmin has a private front porch that leads into a large main living room with a traditional high beamed ceiling and open fireplace. It consists of a sitting area with a pull-out sofa bed, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen, with stove, microwave oven and refrigerator. Freeview TV and Internet access available. There are 2 spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Each has built-in wardrobes. Great views from the windows. The large bathroom has a shower and bidet. The South-facing front terrace has commanding views over Orgiva and the surrounding mountains. Adjacent to the entrance is the private swimming pool and a second terrace with pergola, eating area and BBQ. Stunning views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and white villages to the East.

Casa de las Flores offers stunning views; to the south over the town of Órgiva and the Sierra de Lújar down to the Mediterranean; to the north and east towards La Alpujarra and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Opposite the famous Cueva (cave) de Sortes, it overlooks Órgiva, which is a thriving, friendly town and is a great location from which to explore the wonders of Las Alpujarras. The area offers some of the best walking or bicycle rides in Europe, with almost constant sunshine, stunning vistas of the mountains and the famous Pueblo Blanco white mountain villages that cling to the southern flanks of the Sierra Nevada. Órgiva has an abundance of tapas bars, several restaurants, cafes, bars, banks, internet cafes, shops and supermarkets. A larger choice is available in the nearby coastal resorts of Salobreña and Motríl or in Granada. A 'must see' is the world famous Alhambra Palace in Granada.

  • There is a 20% non-refundable booking fee to be paid at time of booking, with the balance being due 14 days before arrival. There is also a €150 refundable breakages deposit.
    Additional days will be charged on a pro-rata basis.

Notes: There are two terraces; one to the front of the apartment overlooking Orgiva and the other to the side of the entrance incorporating the private swimming pool and with a covered pergola. Guests can eat in either location. There is a central laundry facility with tumble dryer. We ask that guests do not smoke inside the building. Small children will require supervision on the terraces. There is a secure lock-up facility for bicycles. The nearest golf course is Los Moriscos, located between the coastal towns of Salobrena and Motril on the Costa Tropical (about 35 minutes drive). It is an 18-hole links course with a driving range, club house and excellent restaurant.

Walking and Horse Riding: Walking and horse riding can be arranged locally. Please ask the booking agent for more information. It is a particularly delightful area to explore on foot and there are many well-signposted walking routes, ranging from a short stroll, to day long hikes into the Sierra Nevada. For the really serious walker there are two famous long-distance foot paths that cross La Alpujarra. One is the GR-7 which begins in Tarifa in Cadiz Province and crosses Europe all the way to Greece. The other is the GR-142 which runs from the spa town of Lanjarón (only 15 minutes from Casa de las Flores) to Fiñana on the northern side of the Sierra Nevada in Almería. And before your walk, you can fill your own water bottles at the spa in Lanjarón.

Cycling and Mountain Biking : Cycling and mountain biking are hugely popular in the area, partly due to the 325 days of sunshine and stunning, mountain scenery. Las Alpujarras are Spain's southernmost mountains and include the longest downhill in Europe. If you bring your own bike, Casa de las Flores offers secure bicycle lock-up facilities. Alternatively, you can hire a bike locally. If you want to 'do your own thing', then this is an ideal base. The property is located on the main A-4132 road to Trevélez, which passes through the famous Alpujarran 'pueblo blancos', including Carataunus, Pampaneira and Pitres. A short detour takes you to Bubión and Capileira in the Poqueira Gorge from where you can ride up into the Sierra Nevada Mountains and up the track to Pico Veleta (3,400 metres). The trails are generally quiet and in the mountains, devoid of traffic. If you want to take part in an organized group or rent equipment, please contact the rental agents, who will put you in touch with a local biking company.

Beaches: The closest beaches are those of the Costa Tropical, approximately 40 minutes drive away. The town of Salobreña has a good beach with lots of beachside restaurants and cafés. And if you don’t just want to sit on the beach, you can visit the 10th Century Moorish Castle in the old town. A further 10 minutes drive west along the coast, the resort of Almuñécar has seafront restaurants, shops, a weekly market, a castle, botanical gardens, a bird sanctuary and a water park.
