This attractive 3 bedroom private villa offers an extremely high standard of accommodation in a beautiful rural setting. Designed on three levels the house offers comfort, space, modern facilities, a large private pool and pretty gardens. It also offers an array of outside living spaces including a covered BBQ patio, terraces on each level and a well-furnished shady area under the house and next to the pool, which also has a table tennis table. The three attractive bedrooms, two doubles and one single, are all located on the top level of the house. Both doubles have en suite bathrooms. A very spacious balcony is also situated on this level, which is comfortably furnished for relaxing and enjoying the spectacular views that span a lush green valley. On the first level the design is completely open plan with an attractive and comfy living area with large picture windows, a well-equipped kitchen, a shower room with WC and a covered patio. Stairs from here lead to the pool and gardens.

Villa Amalia is located on the brow of a small hill just above the tiny village of Filipos and just a five minute drive from the village of Vrysses, (famous for its tall plane trees and its tasty yogurt and honey), where you can find a handful of tavernas, cafes, an excellent bakery, a butchers and a couple of small mini-markets. The pretty village resort of Georgioupolis, where you can find one of the islands longest sandy beaches, can be reached in just 10 minutes by car. Again you can find most practical facilities you might need here as well as an excellent choice of tavernas. You can also hire pedaloes for exploring the attractive little estuary that flows into the village. The villa is also extremely well located for exploring. Lake Kournas, a picturesque freshwater lake, is close by and the islands fantastic Venetian harbour towns, Chania and Rethymnon, are easily accessible from here. And the undeveloped south coast can also be easily reached in less than an hour by car.

Interior: The villa is equipped with mosquito netting on all windows and patio doors.

Eating : The villa is very well equipped for self-catering but it is also easy to access tavernas nearby. The closest are in the village of Vrysses, which is accessed by car within 5 minutes. But, if you feel you really don't want to leave the comfort and tranquility of Villa Amalia we can arrange a tasty home cooked Cretan meal for you, (at a small charge), which will be deliver to you at the villa for you to enjoy in the comfort of your holiday home!

Exterior: Villa Amalia offers well designed outdoor living spaces both from inside the house but also amongst the gardens that surround the pool. These have been well thought out both for privacy as well as for making sure guests enjoy the fantastic and uninterrupted views that extend across the lush, green valley that spans from the villa as far as the eye can see. It is also possible to see the sea glistening in the distance where the valley rolls eastwards downhill. At night the views consist of a star filled sky and, in the distance, the twinkling lights of the tiny villages of Filipos and Maza.

We had a delightful ten days at Villa Amalia.

The accomodation exceeded our expectation. It is a very high standard, comfortable and was ably maintained by a cleaner twice a week. The service was excellent.

Need a car, The approach to the villa is by a delightful but reasonably steep and windy hill road. The local town, Vrysses, is an oasis of shade and has all of the shops required. Good tavernas, bakeries and supermarkets. It is five minutes drive away.

The pool is terrific and views over the surounding countryside to the North are grand. The grounds are relatively large, with plenty of options to sit outside: pool, table tennis/shade area, bedroom verandas, kitchen, BBQ area. Neighbouring villas are quite close.

TV, sat and wifi all worked well. Kitchen is snug and has all equipment. It could be improved with the addition of a microwave for those of us who are truly lazy.

The air conditioning was essential in July. The smaller of the three bedrooms did not have air conditioning during our stay. This was a disappointment and the room proved to be too hot for precious Northern Europeans like us. The fan provided did not deliver the cooling required and the room was abandoned after two sticky nights.....

Notwithstanding this minor issue we had a tremendous holiday.
