Photos and Description of this Mayenne holiday cottage 2 bedroom country cottage at the end of the lane, in a beautiful setting.

This quaint cottage lies at the end of a lane and nestles in an acre of mature landscaped gardens. There's a large kitchen with washing /machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and a CD/radio. A large wood-burning fire provides heat when necessary and there's a good-sized table and chairs. The stable door opens onto the gardens and a patio with table, chairs and barbecue. The comfortable lounge has a wood burner set in a bread-oven, a three-piece suite, the sofa converting into a double bed. A very spacious bathroom with large bathtub and separate shower. Two small airy comfortable loft bedrooms can be found up a beautiful, but very narrow, wrought iron spiral staircase. There is a king-sized bed in one room, a double floor bed and one single pine bed in the other. South facing and child friendly, the beautiful gardens are completely secluded, there is a large orchard and a wide variety of flowers together with a selection of vegetables and salads for the picking.

Nearest Airport: Rennes at 50 Miles
Nearest Ferry: Caen at 80 Miles
Nearest Train: Flers at 20 Miles
Nearest Beach: beach at 50.0 Miles

Hercé – a very small village but with Gorron only 3km it has a range of shops, bars and restaurants. There's a swimming pool, which pulls back its' roof in the summer, tennis courts and a pony club. The beautiful beaches aren't too far either. Along the coast of Normandy and Brittany. One of my favourite days - is a morning shopping in the walled city of St Malo, only 60 miles from the cottage - lunch in a pavement café and then an afternoon on the beach. To end the day a drive along the coastal road to the beautiful island city of Mont St Michel, spectacular at twilight and less crowded!! There are opportunities close-by for windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, archery and mini-golf at Ambrierés-La-Vallees. Various ferry options to the cottage: Brittany Ferries Portsmouth/Caen - 80 miles to cottage. LD Lines Portsmouth/Le Havre - LD Lines - 130 miles (Cheaper!) Can go via Calais but a long drive.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Lets normally run from Saturday to Saturday, outgoing guests are requested to leave by 10.30 am and incoming guests should please not arrive before 4.00 pm. We ask for a deposit of £50, payable in the U.K. before you depart. We will not cash this cheque unless it is necessary to deduct a charge for damages or a cleaning fee. This will be assessed on departure and your cheque or the balance returned forthwith.
  • The cottage has beds for 5 plus a cot. However, we are able to accommodate for extra numbers – there is a double bed-settee and two inflatable air beds, together with extra bedding. Please contact us for further information.
    Bed linen, and tea towels are provided at no extra charge. Towels are available at a cost of £20 per set for a party of 4.
    n the Winter months the first baskets of wood are provided free of charge, subsequent baskets will be charge a nominal fee.
  • We ask you to leave the cottage clean and tidy for the next arrivals – to include cleaning of cooker, fridge, floors and bathroom. However, if you would like this done for you we can arrange this at a cost of £40, payable with the holding deposit. If this is not arranged and we find the cottage in need of a thorough clean we will cash your £50 deposit cheque to cover the cost of this service. We must add that to date it has not been necessary to deduct any monies from any of our clients and we thank them for their respect of our cottage..
