Rezzonico:
Rezzonico is probably the most photographed village on Lake Como. It has been built on the rocks, has cobblestone streets which lead to the beach, and a medieval castle which dates back over 1000 years. There are shops and groceries in the village. A variety of fish (Lavarello, Alborelle, Misoltini) from the Lake Como, are among the specialities on the menu in the local tavern (Trattoria). Santa Maria Rezzonico, a lively town with one of the oldest golf and tennis clubs, is a mere 5 km from Menaggio. The region is not only picturesque and idyllic, it is also very peaceful . The location is ideal for day excursions by boat, across to the opposite shore (Bellagio, Varenna). You can comfortably explore to the neighbouring villages by car. The distance to Lugano, Switzerland, is 30 km. St. Moritz is only 96 km away.
Surroundings-Trips:
Take the time to visit the beautiful historic buildings and botanical gardens around Lake Como - such as Villa Carlotta, extremely photogenic, featuring romantic statuary and lush gardens; Villa Ballbianello, a film location recently seen in Casino Royale, the latest James Bond movie. Italian National Trust property since 1988, the villa hosts a great collection of art, antique furniture & carpets. The gardens are also delightful and are open to visitors. In Varenna, a short ferry ride from Menaggio are two more stunning properties, Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi - both have beautiful gardens that are open to the public between April - October. In Bellagio you can be taken on guided tours around Villa Serbelloni, property owned by the Rockefella Foundation since 1959. The lakes of Como & Lugano offer the most scenic spots in all of Italy. Ferries carry passengers across there shimmering waters from town to town one of the main attractions of visiting the Lake.
Low Season:
In the pre and after-season and even in the winter the area is very beautiful, there is less tourism, but, to undertake still very much, the weather is very even and mild mostly. This area is very well to relax. Also in winter time we have nice sunny days....enjoy this
