Javea is situated on Spain's Costa Blanca mid-way between Valencia and Alicante. It is divided into three parts - the old medieval hilltop town with its narrow streets and historic buildings, the active port and marina and the modern development around the large sandy blue flag beach. In all areas there are numerous supermarkets, banks, restaurants, bars and cafes. You will not find high rise apartment blocks, although like the rest of Spain, apartment and villa development have proliferated in recent years. You can have a very relaxing holiday pottering between beach, restaurants and the villa but nearby towns of Moraira, Denia, Gata, Jalon all have something to offer. Alicante has its castle and Valencia is superb with its modern architectural wonders and its science museum and aquarium. There is also Benidorm with Aqualandia and Terra Mitica theme park, Guadalest in the mountains, and Polop with its springs, There are two golf courses in Javea itself and others not too far away.
