A wee gem in Pitlochry

Review Submitted: November 8, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and is equipped with everything you could possibly need.

The location is close to shops and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and hotels nearby. Pitlochry Theatre is well worth a visit.

There are some lovely walks in the vicinity and the scenery is beautiful.

We parked our car on arrival and didn't need to use it again until we left!

Pitlochry Cottage

Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our stay at this cottage was a joy from beginning to end. The cottage felt warm and welcoming, the owner greeted us on arrival with drinks and home baking - a lovely gesture and much appreciated. The cottage was immaculately clean throughout with an extremely high standard of furnishing and facilities (it was so comfortable it was hard to drag ourselves out some days!). We especially enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the pretty garden.
The situation of the cottage is ideal - we really were only a few minutes walk away from the bustling High Street of Pitlochry which had a fantastic choice of cafes, restaurants and pubs (it was great to enjoy traditional live music on a couple of evenings).
The surrounding countryside tempted us into some lovely woodland and river walks (kitted out with rucksacks and wellies from the house) and a trip to Athol Castle was fascinating - we would highly recommend a visit.

Will I be returning? A definite yes.

Will I be recommending the cottage to family and friends? I already have done.

Delightful Cottage.

Cynders Stafford, UK
Review Submitted: October 4, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We had a wonderfull holiday in this delightful cottage with a welcoming atmosphere, good facilities, well appointed and clean with great attention to detail and every conceivable item available to make the place homely, it was very warm and comfortable. The owner provided good customer service welcoming us with a bottle of wine, flowers and shortbread. The location of the cottage is far enough from the main road to be peaceful and quiet yet close enough to enable you to walk to the local Co-Op Supermarket and the local shops in the main street, we found the people of Pitlochry very polite and welcoming. The Festival Theatre is within walking distance with the Scottish Plant Hunters garden (Explorers) an absolute delight. It is easy access for country walks which are within easy reach without using the car. It is a central location for enabling visits to other towns with little quaint shops in Dunkeld and Aberfeldy, do visit the "Spirit of Wood" in Aberfeldy. The scenery is stunning around Pitlochry, we walked for miles and really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family and will be visiting again in the future.
Owner's Response: Dear Peter and Cyndy

It was lovely to meet you both. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you very much indeed for your kind words. Haste Ye Back!!!!

A lovely break

Vacation fanatic Edinburgh
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at this cottage in Pitlochry. The location of the cottage is suitable for both those with and without car. The cottage is situated a short walk away from the main street which makes it ideal for those travelling by train or bus. For those travelling by car there is ample on-street parking outside the cottage.

The facilities in the cottage were well suited to our needs. As coffee lovers we were pleased to see a coffee machine in the kitchen. Over coffee we used the wireless internet to look at the mountain weather forecast to plan our day hiking. A large file included activities and places of interest in Pitlochry and the surrounding area, which is useful should the weather not be suitable for outdoor activites. The books about old Pitlochry and the Tummel region were particularly interesting.

We look forward to our next visit!
Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your break. Thank you for your positive review. You are more than welcome to return here anytime.

Great wee place to stay!!

Review Submitted: August 29, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
I stayed here during summer 2009 as part of a group of 5. We all had a great time and are hoping to go back again.

The house itself is very welcoming and has a real homely feel to it - not a clinical, empty feel like most holiday homes. It has obviously been put together thoughtfully and has everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay (all mod cons and very easy to use). The house is extremely clean and tidy. The decor is fresh but traditional in keeping with the property and there are lots of finishing touches, some of which can be seen in the photos. The furniture is very comfortable - my friends spent whole days lazing on the huge sofas, reading in the sunlight and the beds were amazing!! Great sleeps! The house has some amazing views and gets sunlight through the windows for most of the day.

The location is far enough from the main road to be very quiet but close enough to walk to the main street in 5 mins or so. There is loads to do in and around Pitlochry - great cafes and restaurants, lots of interesting shops (I loved the Christmas shop - even though it was summer!), outdoor centres/activities including cycling, walking, boating, etc. There is also a small supermarket in the town centre.

We went by car and were able to park immediately outside the house but didn't use it much after that as so much is accessible on foot. It only takes a couple of hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow so ideal for even a weekend. You could easily get the train here and leave the car behind as the train station is just behind the main street and about 10 - 15 mins walk from the property.

The owner was very helpful in booking our accommodation and has compiled a huge file of things to do in the area, which was brilliant for planning our days out. There is also internet access should you manage to exhaust all the suggestions in the file!

The people of Pitlochry are also very welcoming and friendly. Lots of information and helpful hints from Tourist Information, and also from any locals you might bump into during your day!

We has a great time here and would definitely recommend it to friends and family alike. I think Pitlochry would suit all "holidayers" alike, young and old, active or relaxing, families or couples or small groups of friends - it can be as busy or quiet as you like.
