The region has two major cities; Coimbra and Viseu. Both are centres of historic interest - Coimbra most widely known for its prestigious ancient university. Viseu is the capital of the Dão wine region, with an historic core and 12th Century Cathedral.
The local town is Arganil (3km away) which has banks, post office, tourist information and supermarkets (Intermarche and Lidl). It has a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants, with a local market every Thursday morning
The terrain is typically of lush river valleys meandering through wooded hills in which many individual village communities are located, with a breathtaking backdrop of high mountains all around. There is a feeling of peaceful relaxation and is just the place to unwind and relax.
