Illogan is centrally situated to reach places of interest all over Cornwall . Just over a mile from the coast, the two nearest villages of Portreath and Porthtowan offer glorious safe sandy beaches and splendid surfing. The historic coast to coast mining railway track has been turned into a countrylover's delight, to walk, ride or cycle, with cycles available to hire, and pubs and cafes along the track. This area of Cornwall was once the richest tin mining area in the world, and some mines have been converted into fascinating places to visit.
West Penwith, with St. Ives and its art galleries and beaches, the Minack open air cliff theatre, St M|ichael's Mount, the lovely old town of Penzance, is a short drive away, and the magnificent coastal drives and walks around the peninsula have to be appreciated.
The beaches and rivers of the South Coast are within easy reach, as is the historic city of Truro from where you can take a boat trip to the fascinating port of Falmouth.
