La Germainiere is a lovely old farmhouse that has been completely renovated and modernised to create a really lovely holiday home with enormous character. It has beamed ceilings, massive stone walls, tiled floors, a huge Normandy fireplace and full central heating. The house is a short walk from the village of Grimesnil with its excellent and very welcoming bar/restaurant, where Jean-Pierre cooks fish and meat over an open fire at one end of the bar. The surrounding countryside is gently undulating and totally unspoilt. The walking is exceptional and maps of the numerous droves and footpaths are provided. The local villages boast a host of restaurants, all good, some superb. The view from the sun terrace is beautiful, just rolling fields and trees. Total peace. The coast with its beautiful, unspoilt beaches is only a 15 minute drive away. The magnificent private, heated swimming pool is available from May to October.

This very beautiful part of Normandy is so easy to reach from England via Cherbourg or Caen yet remains completely unspoilt. The countryside is real Normandy with brown and white spotty cows, cider orchards and small family farms. The area is renowned for its delicious food; cheese, cider, pommeau and calvados and especially for its fish and shellfish. The wide, safe, sandy beaches on the nearby coast never seem to get busy and the warm shallow sea is lovely for swimming. At low tide watch the local farmers with their tractors tend the acres of oyster and mussel beds - fascinating. Within easy reach of the house are the world famous Mont St Michel and the medieval town of Bayeux with its ancient tapestry depicting the battle of Hastings. To the North East are the historic D Day beaches of the Normandy landings of World War II - Gold, Omaha, Sword and Utah and the fascinating war museums at Arromanche, Caen etc.

The private, heated 10 x 5m pool is set away from the house with lovely views over the valley and, for peace of mind, security fenced. There is a large pool hut for changing and sun loungers and pool furniture are provided. The terraces are a real sun trap. Well equipped tiled kitchen with woodburner, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, breakfast area with circular oak table. Large beamed and tiled dining room, lovely sitting room with enormous fireplace. Games room with table tennis. Bed linen and towels are available at £16 per person. Rental includes heating, hot water, logs, washing machine, tumble drier and the private, heated swimming pool (May to October only)
