Excellent location for exploring the historic towns of the Marche, Umbria and Tuscany regions. Urbino is the pearl of the Italian Renaissance and the birthplace of Raphael the famous artist, and has beautiful museums. The Urbino Ducal Palace, built for the grand duke Federico of Montefeltro, with it’s stately rooms, towers and magnificent courtyard still houses the Marche region National Gallery and attracts tourists from all over the world. The province is well known for ceramics, most famously that of Castel Durante, a craft tradition that is still practiced today in Gubbio, Sant’Angelo in Vado, and above all in Pesaro. Acqualagna (4 kms away) is the worldwide capital for truffles. The famous truffle festival takes place at the end of October until the end of November. This is an ideal place for students and tourists also searching for a tranquil lifestyle; walking through the alpine flowers in the upland meadows, a swim in high summer in the rock pools of Cagli’s two rivers.
