Offida and the local area: The property is located 3 minutes by car from the medieval town of Offida, famous for its hand made lace (merletto a tombolo), its beautiful buildings, its many churches and its award winning wines. In this small but lively market town (5500 pop), you will find everything you need to enjoy your holiday. A centro storico with a weekly market, small shops and delicatessens, several supermarkets, a museum of local history and archeology and a great little playground for the kids. And a good choice of bars, cafes, ice cream shops and restaurants. The surrounding countryside is mainly vine growing - an excellent area to taste some of the local wines at the many cantinas or at Offida's Enoteca, the Regional Wine Centre of Le Marche, housed in a former monastery. The Piazza del Popolo provides the perfect place for an outdoor concert or an artisans' market during a warm summer evening, or eat, drink and dance the night away at one of the many local festas where you will be welcome guests
Why Southern Marche?: The spectacular Riviera delle Palme offers its visitors clean sparkling seawater and a coastline of unspoilt beaches, with the highest award of Bandiera Blu. A palm and oleander-lined promenade/cycle route extends 25 km along the coast from south of San Benedetto to Cupra Marittima, where you can hire bikes, roller blades or walk, with plenty of opportunities for refreshments en route. There are many little medieval hillside and coastal towns to visit. Ripatransone (10 km) and Macerata (40 km) perform outdoor opera in the summer months. In every local town or paese you can find a good selection of local cuisine and wines. The capital city of Ascoli Piceno is only 20 minutes away. In July/August, you can see some expert flag throwing and jousting at the Quintana, a celebration of the city's medieval history. For those who like a bit of wild countryside, the National Parks of the Sibillini Mountains and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga are within an hour's drive from Offida.
Your accommodation: The apartment is attached to the main villa, which is occupied by the owners. It has been carefully designed so that guests can enjoy their holiday in privacy, with their own entrance and terrace. The swimming pool may be shared with the owners but there are no other guests. The owners are available for guests, to give any help or advice when required. Their aim is for you to enjoy your holiday and to enjoy getting to know this part of Italy
