Lari holiday cottage: Cevoli

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming little cottage, conveniently located within reasonable travelling distance of many of Tuscany's places of interest. We only stayed for a week and would have happily stayed on for another, as there were still manay places left to explore! We hired a car upon arrival at the airport, and would recommend doing the same to anyone planning on taking their holiday here. Pisa was about a 40 minute drive away and Florence about an hour's drive in the other direction, we took day trips to both of these beautiful city's, as well as the medieval towns of San Gimignano and Volterra. The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated / furnished with hi spec bathrooms and an amazing en-suite to the main bedroom (the photo's really don't do the cottage justice) The kitchen was well equipped and there's also a dishwasher and washing machine. Most of the shops in the village were shut when we stayed at the cottage due to the time of year we stayed here (3rd week in August) but there were plenty of shops in the town of Casia Terme which is only 5-10 minutes away and a choice of supermarkets just a few minutes away. The owner, Jon, is very friendly and helpful and had left plenty of information on the local area including restaurants, where to find the supermarkets and things to do /places of interest. The cottage has a shared pool which was lovely and had fantastic views over the beautiful Tuscan landscape. Although the pool is shared, we had it to ourselves on most occasions that we used it (nearly every afternoon!). There were 4 of us (adults) that stayed here and the cottage was certainly big enough for us all to relax comfortably and spread out, whether in side or out. The rooms had plug in fans, which were very much needed as we were there for the hottest time of year, but with the heat comes the mosquitos so go prepared as the local shops do sell mosquito repellents etc but the choice is very limited and probably not as effective as the products available in boots - I had to smoother myself in repellent every night and used a plugin repellent in the bedroom to prevent myself being bitten to death but that's no reflection on the property - I get bitten wherever I go and I forgot to take the jungle formula super strength stuff with me when we left the UK! Mosquito's aside, this was one of the best holdays we've ever had and I would certainly recommend it to friends and family.
