Bude holiday house: Upton

We have stayed at Upton House over half a dozen times and keep coming back for more!
Regularly staying for a fortnight each Fall and Spring, we always look forward to and thoroughly enjoy our breaks at Upton House and the surrounding area.
The house itself is first class, plently of room, amenities and most importantly for us it is set in a very peaceful and beautiful rural setting. I could wax lyrical about it but you really need to experience it for yourself - you won't be dissappointed.
The Service provided by Nick is also first class.
All in all 'simply brilliant'.

This is a fabulous house in a fabulous location- secluded but in very easy reach of Bude town centre and beaches (options to get into town : walk or cycle across country or via canal towpath ; gentle paddle down the canal to Summerleaze beach (would highly recommend this for a fun family expedition!) or if you really must a 5 minute hop by car!!)There are other walks eg up the newly opened canal path and over to Widemouth (recommend stop off at Bay View Inn and stroll back along cliff top )which you can do from the front door.
There is plenty of room in the property for a group of families to holiday together and not feel on top of each other but at the same time it feels homely enough for a single family just to spread out and enjoy the space and facilities. A lovely holiday home- guaranteed to make you feel welcome . Highly recommended

This house is in a superb location. Although tucked away in a quiet, rural position, you are within easy reach of some superb beaches and also the town of Bude, with its ample opportunities for some retail therapy. A short stroll down the hill to the canal offers excellent walks on newly renovated tow paths. In one direction is a delightful, level walk to Bude. In the other, you can head out over the fields towards Widemouth Bay and a very pleasant pub called the Bay View Inn – excellent food and local beers, all overlooking the Bay.
We found the house to be very clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and extremely well appointed with all the amenities you could ever want (including HD televisions with Sky TV and wireless internet access). With so many comfortable reception rooms, this not just a property that sleeps 12 but easily accommodates this number. The large kitchen has a table that can happily seat this many and there is plenty of crockery, cutlery and other utensils. The beds are very comfortable and the quality of the linen and the towels is of a very high standard. The secluded, walled garden is beautiful and its sheltered position is something of a sun trap. The expansive lawn area is great for the kids to run off a bit of steam and with a gated entrance and a covered pond area; it offers a safe and very pleasant environment. The adults have a choice of paved areas so whether you are looking for a peaceful spot to relax or are barbequing for a group; you are never short of space.
The nearby beaches offer safe bathing, surfing and body boarding as they are patrolled by the RNLI. For mountain boarders there is a centre only 10 minutes drive away which offers a beginners school as well as the obligatory jumps etc. If you are a keen fisherman, there are canal and course fishing pools nearby. For kayakers, you can “put in” at the canal near to the house and paddle right into Bude harbour – very picturesque!
However, the outstanding feature of this holiday was the superb level of service we experienced from Nick Compton at Elite West. Nick really does go the extra mile to ensure you have a fabulous holiday experience. Not only is he keen to share his extensive local knowledge he also came to our rescue when we inadvertently put our son’s comforter into the laundry service bag. Nick went to extraordinary lengths to return the item within a few hours, allowing us to have a stress free remainder of the holiday. Superb service!
