If you wish to visit local sights and attractions with a private tour guide, we can arrange for an experienced local guide to accompany you on your choice of tours. She can travel with you in your car or you can follow her in her own car.
We can also arrange private wine tours and tastings in Chateaux and Domaines that are not normally accessible to the general public with a knowledgeable and experienced wine guide. Wine tasting and wine and food pairing evenings can be arranged at the house and are suitable for every level of wine enthusiast.

Local Information:
The countryside around the area is beautiful and changes throughout the season. Beautiful red poppies grow wild in the spring, followed by fields of sunflowers in the main summer months. Wine making is the main industry of Langedoc and there are fields of vineyards as far as the eye can see. There are plenty of opportunities to take a wine tour or just stop in at local producers to taste and buy local wines. Take a drive through picturesque villages and stop to wander around local markets and fetes. Throughout the summer months local fetes and carnivals are held in the main villages and throughout July, open air concerts and shows are held in and around Carcassonne. Medieval jousting is held daily at the Cite and on Bastille Day (14 July) the cite is 'set alight' with a breathtaking firework display. Caves and grottos can be found within a short drive, you can explore the mystery of Rennes le Chateau and the Knights Templar, or simply relax in the thermal springs at Rennes les Bain.
Local Activities:
Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with many courses around the area suitable for all levels of players. The nearest course at Carcassonne offers club hire and the restaurant does a great lunch with a perfect view of the 18th hole! Climbing is popular around the area, as is walking and hiking. Canoeing and kayaking is offered by a local company along the river Aude, and good fishing is possible with a permit. Local companies offer daily boat trips on the Canal du Midi and longer boat hire can be arranged. The canal is busy during the summer months with hotel barges and hire boats, if you prefer just to sit back and watch the boats negociate the tricky lock gates, the canal is just a couple of minutes walk from the house. The tree lined route is perfect for an evening stroll and the village lock can be quite entertaining! The etang behind the Canal is a great cycle route with quiet roads lined with sunflower fields, apple orchards and vineyards. Bike hire can be arranged locally.
