Fantastic Holiday in Gorgeous Samui

Our family of 5 had a fantastic holiday at Karma from start to finish. We were picked up from the airport with a cold drink and cold towels, and the resort was a short 10 minute drive away. The villa itself was incredibly spacious and gorgeous, the bedrooms are lovely, the open plan kitchen / dining / living area is nicely furnished and HUGE, and the open courtyard, larger than expected private pool and sala were spacious, private and peaceful. The views to the east (second bedroom) are lovely, but the views from the main area of the villa are somewhat impeded by roof of the villa in front (there is only 1 villa in front and then the beach). We were a little disappointed at first, but the space and privacy of the villa (set up is such that there are no other villa'a overlooking you!) more than made up for the slightly impeded view. Also the resort restaurant (Padma) and 2 resort pools have fantastic views. The whole set up was suited our family perfectly and the ambiance of the resort was fantastic.
We found the staff to be incredibly helpful - they went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy and had great suggestions for places to eat and things to see around the island. The rooms are cleaned twice daily! The food in the restaurant was superb and on one of our nights we arranged an "in villa barbeque" which was an experience we won't soon forget. The copious amounts of freshly prepared Thai food (done just how you want it -- our kids liked a little less spice!) was simply delicious, the staff were fantastic, showing us how to make cocktails and basically treating us like royalty the entire evening. I can't remember what we paid, but I remember thinking at the time it was excellent value for such a great experience.
The beach at the resort, whilst beautiful, was a little too rocky and too secluded for our liking, but the lovely white sands of Chaweng beach were a less than 10 minute taxi drive (taxis were arranged by the staff, they would not use the metre - fixed price only (200-300 baht to go into Chaweng)- we had been told that would be the case - but they were friendly, plentiful and safe). We loved Chaweng beach with its rolling waves, lovely white sand, and many places for food, drink, shopping, spa, entertainment, whatever! Our memories of our trip to Karma Samui will always be very special and we look forward to going again!!
