Distances & further information :
Brindisi & Bari International airports are merely 45 minutes by car. Although there is a main railway line along the coast, public transport in the area is limited so we recommend and provide the use of a car to ensure that you explore the area and get the most from your Puglia holiday. If you require the use of a car please notify us by email. This will enable you not only to visit the local towns with ease, but also take day trips further afield, for example to the spectacular caves of Castellana Grotte, Bari and its coastal cathedral towns, Matera the cave- town setting for the Passion of Christ the Ionian coast, the whole of Salento with its picturesque resorts and beaches, together with the many fortified medieval sea-side towns like Otranto and Gallipoli. Roman sites of Egnazia and Metapontum, and many other highlights of Puglia.
Beaches and Local Towns:
There are a selection of many different beaches on the Adriatic shores, in close proximity to Canale di Pirro. Torre Canne which is well known for its long, sandy beaches, offers a safe, child-friendly, shallow beach, but just a few kilometres further and you will find endless unspoilt, secluded beaches with tall dunes or Capitolo with its beaches that are less wild which has a fine selection of water sports and modern facilities including well-equipped lidos. Only a few kilometers down the hill is Fasano, a beautiful, ancient town. A few kilometres drive into the interior or along the coast are the towns of Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Locorotondo, Alberobello, Polignano al Mare and Monopoli. Ostuni is an exquisite town known as the 'White City' because of its whitewashed streets surrounded by mediaeval walls; Martina Franca is a town with a tangible Moorish flavour; where some of Puglia's prettiest landscapes can be seen. Just a few kilometres away is the zoo-safari, Fasanola
Things to do:
If you are a lover of long leisurely lunches and relaxing dinners, where the wine flows, the food just keeps coming and the bill is surprisingly cheap then you'll be glad to know that the restaurants, trattorias, osterias, pizzerias, bars and cafés in Puglia are not only incredibly reasonable, but well renowned for the freshness and taste of their fare. The food, its preparation and consumption, is the focal point of Italian life, so when you eat out in any establishment you will never feel like you've eaten merely to refuel but rather to experience a sensory delight. We can recommend some fantastic restaurants, some even within walking distance
