Photos and Description of this Ile d'Oleron holiday house

The white little house is located in a wonderful still wood area of the island village of Domino - 500 m from the ocean, 1 km from village centre with shops and a very popular market and 2 - 4 km from the long beaches of the island's west coast. The small, close beach isn't frequented often, it is a little rocky between some cliffs depending on the tide, however it is almost private. The little house is a good 30 years old, not modern, simple, but likeable and 4-5 people can occupy it. There is a sweetly decorated living room with fireplace and wood truss ceilings, a simple kitchen that is fully-equipped and has a washing machine as well as a tiny WC on the ground floor. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a French bed, one with 2 single beds and baby bed as well as a bathroom on the first floor. A cosy, intimate, lightly shaded terrace opens up to a delightful, natural 1000 m² wooded property.

The island of Oléron is the largest and most southern of the French Atlantic islands. A free bridge connects the island to the mainland. Oléron is a swimming and water sport paradise with fantastic, fine-sanded beaches, with mild waves, attractive wind surfing spots, a long cycling and hiking wood, numerous markets, brightly-coloured fishing boat fleets, colourful oyster shacks, fish auctions and sweet eucalyptus air with many hours of sunshine. The old island villages, incl. Domino, are obviously trying to care for the environment, harmonise their lanes adorned with typical hollyhock and create nice nooks and spots. Urban picture book aspects are rarer than on the island of Ré, but still in fashion.
