Calahonda is an urbanisation which was originally founded by an Englishman and remains very English. It is like a home from home for most Britains visiting Spain. However you dont have to travel far to get a taste of real Spain. A short trip to the white village of Mijas which is available at reception will give you a taste of how they were built in the mountains with narrow streets to keep the sun out of the windows. Or try a visit to Marbella old town and enjoy a meal and drink in orange square. There is a nudist beach at Cabapino if you want to get back to nature. This can be reached on the bus, about 10 minutes journey but you can walk along the beach in about 15 minutes. There are 3 other sister resorts which you can visit and use the facilities. Leila Playa is within walking distance along the beach or road towards Marbella, La Ermita at Mijas village and Villacana at Estapona. (Note, the arrow on the map is not correct, it should be opposite El Zoco De Mijas to the left).
