Approximately 45 minutes drive from Toulouse airport, Moissac is a small medieval town built along the banks of the river Tarn. It is famous for its Romanesque abbey and cloisters which are now classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. Moissac is an important stop over for pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes as well as the usual shops, a cinema and a lively weekend market. There is a train station in town with daily connections to Montauban, Toulouse, Agen and Bordeaux. The Canal du Midi runs through town and there are beautiful walks, cycle rides and fishing along it's banks. In the summer there are plenty of boating activities on the river, including water skiing and canoeing. By car, the possible day trips are endless, e.g.. Rocomadour,Cahors, St.Cirq Lapopie, Albi, St Antonin Noble sur Val to name but a few. For wine fans Moissac is in the centre of some of France's most famous wine growing areas: Bordeaux Gaillac, Buzet and Cahor
