Approximately 45 minutes drive from Toulouse airport, Moissac is a small medieval town built along the banks of the river Tarn. It is famous for its Romanesque abbey and cloisters which are now classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. Moissac is an important stop over for pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes as well as the usual shops, a cinema and a lively weekend market. There is a train station in town with daily connections to Montauban, Toulouse, Agen and Bordeaux. The Canal du Midi runs through town and there are beautiful walks, cycle rides and fishing along it's banks. In the summer there are plenty of boating activities on the river, including water skiing and canoeing. By car, the possible day trips are endless, e.g.. Rocomadour,Cahors, St.Cirq Lapopie, Albi, St Antonin Noble sur Val to name but a few. For wine fans Moissac is in the centre of some of France's most famous wine growing areas: Bordeaux Gaillac, Buzet and Cahor

Further details for this holiday house boat rental in Moissac, France

Watching the world go by: Life aboard a boat is a very unique experience, although Da Vinci is stationary it is still a great pleasure to sit back and relax on her deck and watch the daily life of the canal go on around you. should you prefer the views of the river tarn, which is an even more get away from it all experience we can easily move Da Vinci for you. (weather and river conditions permitting). Around the port where Da Vinci is moored is a very quiet residential area, access is only for house and boat owners, is it easy to park and free. Da Vinci has low headroom in places. (it is not much different to an old style cottage)

Art lessons: Private art lessons for all levels of ability can be arranged with myself as I am professional artist.

our other website : We have our own website with more details about Da Vinci and the area.

Also on this site, it shows our other 1 bedroom gite in the centre of Moissac. At a lower price than Da vinci, it is approx 150 Euro - 200 Euro a week. It is right next to the abbey Peter and less than a minutes walk into town. It has a little kitchenette and access to our walled garden with plenty of shady trees to relax in, on those hot days in the summer.

We also have BBQ facilities which can be used.

Other Activities:

wine tasting at local vineyards, gliding and powered flying

We spent a weekend on a the Da vinci.

Review Submitted: December 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We have recently spent a weekend in France, staying aboard the
"Da vinci". My wife and l got to hear about the Da vinci through a friend who quite often rents boats when he and his wife are in France. He was very impressed with the manner in which the boat had been completely restored from the original : Admiralty Habour Boat from the wwII, to a very comfortable, well equipped boat.

I can onyl add my thoughts on the restoration as being Totally First Class. We were shown photos of the of boat before work began on its restoration; then those taken during the work to conclusion. l wonder - Paul, did you just build a New Boat from scratch?

Never the less, we had a wonderful weekend, the weather was good and we, do plan to rent the Da vinci again next year Spring.

Relaxing few days aboard Da Vinci

Review Submitted: May 31, 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
This was a fabulous experience, living on a small old British naval launch in the French river port town of Moissac.
We used the time to recharge our batteries and rest up.
It was great to watch the river and canal traffic drift past, and watch the lock opposite where the boat is berthed.
Not to far from some shops to stock up on supplies, and close to a couple of restaurants if the mood takes to go out for lunch or dinner.
Da Vinci's galley is well equipped and we made dinner most evenings, sitting on deck with a glass of wine.
The accommodation is comfortable and the owner has worked hard to ensure guest will not be disappointed.
Remember this is an old historic boat so you are not living on an super yacht!!
Da Vinci is not for families, elderly or disabled. She serves extremely well for a couple or single person who wants to get away, relax, read, write, rest and romance. It can also be used as a base to visit the local area.
We would have no hesitation to stay there again. Canal life is wonderful!

One of the best holidays ever

Review Submitted: October 21, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
We stayed on Da Vinci in beginning of October, 2010 and this was one of the most beautiful holidays we ever had. It was different experience, we got the feeling of "canal" life-style and will keep these memories for the rest of our lives.

Da Vinci was very nice, and we felt that it has been loved for every inch. Interior was very nice and the deck provided space for mind. The boat is not very big, but you have everything you need and at a high standart.

We had beautiful long breakfasts on the deck with croisants from local boulangerie and foi gras... The canal was very nice during our breakfast time - usually some 2-3 boats were going through canal gate. One day we spent exploring the canal - gates, canal bridge over the river - that was something amazing, the park nearby and the big rivers. Moissac is nice small town where you can get all basic things. One day we went to mountains. The drive is quite long - ~2,5 hours, but still it is worth going there. One more day we spent driving around coutryside and small bautiful french villages.

Paul and Anne-Marie were excellent hosts - we arrived really late, but they were still waiting and next day they came to visit us and brought local plums and grapes... And the advices they gave about what to see were really helpfull. We wish we could stay longer. Maybe next time!

Thank you, Paul, Anne-Marie and da Vinci!
Best regards,
Agnese

Beautifully restored boat in a great location

Review Submitted: September 6, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010
We stayed on Da Vinci for one week in August and it was a perfect week. The boat is beautifully restored and well equipped for two people. We sat and watched the world go by on the canal, and in the evenings strolled into Moissac for dinner. The town centre is within easy walking distance. Its location on the canal means that nearby towns can be easily reached by bike. There are also some very interesting places to visit locally by car - if you like architecture, lovely scenery and local markets. Paul and Anne Marie couldn't do enough to help, and were great to deal with.
We will be recommending this to family and friends as it has real novelty value and is a very relaxing place. It's also affordable and purpose built for couples - places like this are few and far between.
