Bude is one of Cornwall’s traditional holiday destinations dating back to Victorian times. It has grown and developed in harmony with its heritage to provide a modern holiday destination that fulfils the needs of the whole family. The surrounding countryside to Bude is amongst some of the most picturesque in Cornwall with much of the coastline around Bude designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, whilst the famous Bude Canal is an extraordinary engineering feat of the early 19th century. With the North Cornwall coast providing some of the finest surfing in the country it is little wonder that Bude and many of its surrounding beaches are popular all year round. These beautiful sandy beaches provide the perfect setting to relax and unwind with friends and family; with most having lifeguard cover over the summer months. There are eight beaches in and around Bude, and with surfing being high on the agenda for most visitors, here a few that are worth a visit.

Bude town and attractions The centre of Bude has a selection of unique independent shops, a large supermarket and a modern indoor heated swimming pool. There are also many other recreational activities available throughout the area including climbing, abseiling, coastal traversing, coasteering, windsurfing, kayaking canoeing and orienteering. That said, a must for any visit to the North Coast is enjoying walking on part of the South West Coast path. The dramatic and ever-changing coastline provides some spectacular scenery and breathtaking views that provide a camera opportunity from every angle. Bude is also well-situated for some of Cornwall’s best attractions, such as Boscastle, Tintagel and The famous King Arthur's Castle and the picturesque village of Clovelly - all of which are definitely worth a visit. Whilst there is plenty to occupy holiday makers in and around Bude, the more restless visitor can make Bude their base from which to explore Devon and Cornwall.
