Vilar da Mó is a very peaceful village and, yet, very close to all amenities. Less than 10 minutes away is Mação where you can find museums and shops, roman bridges and ancient chapels - one of them dated from 1320. Also nearby are several river beaches, dams, hot springs, lakes and waterfalls all surrounded by mountain cliffs. You can visit the ruins of villages from 2000 b.c., see Neolithic paintings, medieval castles and roman baths.
Visit the work of the last remaining local maker of Picaretos - traditional black boats used in the Tagus River; observe the making of a traditional handmade quilt and taste the delights of the local gastronomy.
If you enjoy birdwatching we have several indigenous species in the area such as eagles, crows, nightingales, kites, finches, blackbirds, larks, partridges, swallows in the spring, summer and autumn, and sparows all year round.
