Adjoining the owner's house this attractive cottage has been fully refurbished(completed Aug 09) to an exceptionally high standard offering a comfortable relaxing environment for that all important break.The property is surrounded by magnificent views within the National Forest but a short drive from all amenities. The property has a fully fitted kitchen with all necessary appliances including built in dishwasher, washer tumble drier, microwave and fridge (with small freezer compartment). The open plan living room/dining area seating 4 people comfortably with a 37' flat screen free view TV, DVD/CD player and electric fire.Large patio doors open up on to lawned garden. Galleried bedroom has a 5' bed with crisp white egyptian cotton sheets and duvet, dressing table, hairdryer and trouser press.

The village of Ticknall which is small and attractive has three public houses (two serve food) and a village shop. Local attractions include Calke Abbey, Staunton, Carsington Water, Elvaston Castle Country Park, Repton school, Donnington Race Circuit, Cloud Cycle Trail, Kings Newton Heritage Trail. This makes an excellent touring base for the Derbyshire Dales with picturesque towns such as Ashbourne and Matlock a short drive away and the delights of Warkwickshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire within easy motorway access if required.

My wife and I stayed at this stunning cottage early September 2009. The cottage is set in lovely peaceful surroundings and is finished to an exceptionally high standard. The cottage is very comfortable and an ideal retreat. The owners were very welcoming and hospitable, making our stay very enjoyable. We would recommend this cottage to our family and friends.

My wife and I stayed at the cottage for a week earlier this month on our way up to Yorkshire. The layout and facilities were ideal for 2 people and it was obvious that it had been recently renovated with all new appliances. The location was fantastic and the surrounding views magnificent. We found some super walks which was helped by the amazing weather! Calke Abbey is well worth visiting as was the town of Ashby. We thoroughly recommend this property to anyone who has never visited Derbyshire!
