After a very good flight from Gatwick I arrived in Sunny Lanzarote. A 10 minute taxi ride from Arrecife airport, which was only 8 Euros, I arrived at Matagorda Bay. My first impression was what a fantastic, clean complex with a sparkling swimming pool, which I couldn't wait to jump in. It was handy having outside showers and loos too.
The apartment was everything I expected and more! A large bottle of water and a lovely red wine was waiting, what more could one want! It was spotless with nice fluffy white towels. Decor was great and accessories made my stay very comfortable and easy including, hair dryer, safe, iron and board and some DVD's to watch.
During my 7-day stay I did some of the following:
Breakfast on the terrace with my fresh fruit, croissants, and orange juice bought from the Morro Mar supermarket only 200 yards away. Another morning I was too lazy and decided to have a cooked breakfast with Paul and Sharon who run a fantastic, friendly bar in the Canima which is about 150 yards away and open from 9.30 - 1, so if you've had a late night then breakfast at midday goes down well. I thoroughly recommend this and the full Sunday roast is as good as mums.
A short stroll away, about 8-min is Matagorda square which is right on the beach. Here there are gift shops and plenty of fabulous restaurants and bars with entertainment to keep all ages of the family happy. The beautiful beach had plenty of deck chairs and I felt safe to swim and relax here. On the promenade there were some very helpful gentlemen who hire bikes and I could cycle for miles all the way to Porto Del Carmen and further on this promenade in the Sunshine, stopping to have a cocktail on the way.
I played tennis most days when I was there, either on the court behind the complex, which you can hire, or at the Los Jameos Playa hotel who have a very good coach and tennis tournaments most days. There is also a very good gym and Spanish tennis courts at the Ferrionis Sports centre, in the Old town a 5-minute taxi ride away.
Transport was very easy, taxi rank and bus stop just outside complex.
The complex itself is quiet, very friendly and a lovely space to spend a relaxing or energetic holiday. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and have booked to go again for 3 weeks soon. I highly recommend this property to friends and family as the location is perfect and the facilities and activities and so vast and the owner looked after us very well to all our needs.
