Lunch or Dinner: There is a restaurant situated in the old oil mill where guests can eat from the menu a la carte with 15% discount or from a fixed menu for 13 euro for adults and 10 euro for children up to 12 years old. Our suggestions for what to do: For the more “active” people, you can cycle to the historical city centre of Lucca along a nature trail that follows the Serchio river. The route, which is for all levels of cycling ability, takes you from Villa Grabau to Ponte a Moriano and then to Lucca (approximately 10 km one way). Bicycles can be hired easily and for those who want to venture further afield, you can hire a bicycle guide for a day to lead you to small towns and villages in and around Lucca, stopping for lunch or drinks along the way. We recommend Chronos Bikes. In the Fluvial Park of the Serchio river, there are many areas for recreational activities (football, lawn bowls, flying model aircrafts, racing model cars, archery, skateboard park).

If you prefer something less active, try walking around the medieval walls of the city centre (4.4km) or climbing up the Torre Guinigi Tower (a 130 ft. tower with an ancient oak tree on top) for a superb view over the historical centre and surrounds. Of course, you cannot leave Lucca without having tasted the handmade ice cream (the best in Italy!) at the Gelateria Sauro in Ponte a Moriano. In the city centre, we advise you to taste or buy some of our famous local or Tuscan wines – there are a number of excellent bars (“vinerie”) and restaurants (“osterie”) to choose from.

The Province of Lucca is famous for many products typical of the area - at last count, there were 136!! We can’t remember them all, but apart from the DOP Olive oil (famous all over the world for its lightness, flavour and quality) Lucca is famous for its traditional Buccellato, the farro of the Garfagnana (delicious in soups), the lardo of Colonnata, the flour of chestnuts, the biroldo, the goat of the Apuane, mondiola, neccio and castagnaccio (made with flour of chestnuts and filled with ricotta), pasimata, pane di patate, crisciolette di Cascio, fagiolo schiaccione, fagiolo scritto, befanini, torta cò bischeri, torte di vedure, the manfregoli, etc. For gourmet lovers, you can taste all these products in your house, cooked for you by local experts from the area. You can also purchase them from your home.
