'The Vines' and 'Banana Grove', in the village of Estreito da Calheta, are 2 newly built, south facing semi-detached houses, in the same complex. They are only 150 metres above sea level and have spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and mountains. They both sleep 6, having 1 downstairs double bedroom with shower en-suite, suitable for the less physically able and 2 more bedrooms upstairs. There is also only one step into the houses and so both should be suitable for wheelchair access. The lounges are comfortable and the kitchens are modern and fully equipped. All the bathrooms and shower rooms have underfloor heating. There are private patio areas with garden furniture. Ample private parking spaces with remote controlled electric gates and Security phone systems. Local cafe/bars, small shops and a mini-market are close by. 4 minutes by car will get you to Calheta's sandy beach and marina. It take approximately 25 minutes to drive to Funchal and 45 minutes to the airport.

'The Vines' is on the same complex as 'Banana Grove' and sleeps 6 people. I double bedroom with a shower en-suite is downstairs making it suitable for the less physically able. Upstairs there is a twin-bedded room with a bath/shower en-suite and another double bedroom. A separate shower room is situated upstairs and a toilet downstairs. The lounge has a 3 piece suite, dining area, T.V and DVD/Video player. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with an oven/grill/hob and extractor fan. Washing machine and drying facilities. Fridge/freezer and microwave. Cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. All the bathrooms/shower rooms have underfloor heating and there are air-conditioning/warm air units installed throughout the house. The sunny garden has a patio area and garden furniture. The prices include utilities, linen and towels, with a change of linen/towels if the stay is over 1 week. Additional cleaning and collection from the airport can be arranged at an additional charge.

Calheta is ideally set on the SW coast of Madeira, in one of the sunniest and warmest parts of the island. The sandy beach and new marina, with its waterside bars and restaurants, makes it an ideal location for families and individuals alike. Locally there are cafe/bars, small shops, a mini-market and a pharmacy. The new roads mean that within 30 minutes you could be either in the bustling town of Funchal, with its harbour, casino, numerous bars, restaurants and nightlife or in the tranquil area of Paul do Serra for one of the many levada walks through the most beautiful and picturesque scenery. The amazing abundance of flowers, throughout the year, the wine and flower festivals and the friendly people make Madeira a truly wonderful experience. My two properties, 'The Vines' and 'The Banana Grove', are on the same site making it a perfect choice for two families or sets of friends to stay within close proximity of each other.

Additional information about rental rates

  • These prices are based on 2 people sharing the accommodation. For the Summer, Autumn and Winter periods there will be a charge of 50 euros per week, for each additional person. For the Christmas period this will be 75 euros per week,for each additional person. A reduced rate of between 1,200 - 1600 euros per month will be available for the Autumn, Winter and Summer periods, based on 2 people sharing. A 'BOOKING DEPOSIT' of 25% is required, (non refundable) and the balance must be made 6 weeks before arrival. If the accommodation is required within a 6 week period, the full amount must be paid. No reminders of non payment will be sent. A 'REFUNDABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT' of 200 euros must be sent with the balance or paid on arrival. This is to cover against damage and breakages. This can be in the form of a cheque which will be returned once the property has been inspected at the end of the visit.
  • In the event of a 'CANCELLATION' the 'BOOKING DEPOSIT' will not be refunded but any other money paid will be considered, depending on the time of the cancellation. 'CHANGES TO BOOKINGS' must be made in writing and whilst every effort will be made to accommodate your wishes, this cannot be guaranteed. 'PERSONAL INSURANCE' should be taken out by each guest, as personal belongings will not be insured. 'CHECK IN TIME' will be available from 3.00pm on the day of arrival and 'CHECK OUT TIME' on the day of departure must be no later than 11.00am. 'CLEANING' for guests staying longer than 1 week, can be arranged at an extra charge of 8 euros per hour, per cleaner (usually 2 are required). 'COLLECTION FROM AIRPORT' can also be arranged at an additional charge of 50 euros, for up to 3 people sharing.
