Puerto del Carmen is the biggest and the busiest of the four main tourist areas on Lanzarote and can be found at the central, southern part of the island. It is spread along over 6 km of golden sandy beaches - all flying the important Blue Flag. The surrounding waters are considered to be some of the most tranquil in the Canary Islands and are excellent for swimming and other water sports.
While for some Puerto del Carmen means visiting The Strip with its wide range of restaurants, bars, entertainment and nightlife, if this is not for you, Puerto del Carmen and Club La Cumbre still has plenty to offer and is a great base for those looking for a quiet holiday, sitting on the beach or around the pool and relaxing. The quaint and peaceful Old Town includes the harbour and docks, Puerto Tinosa, and is a great break away from the full on entertainment in the New Town. It is also the area where the 'better' restaurants are and can be reached in about 20 minutes by foot from the resort.
