Paphos area information :
The popular holiday resort of Paphos is steeped in history and among its attractions are its ancient mosaic floors, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paulas Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite (the goddess of love and beauty). Paphos area offers a great choice of old and new tourist attractions for all the family to enjoy. The old town area of Kato Ppahos quaint winding streets and covered craft markets while the newly regenerated harbour front now has a very attractive pedestrian promenade and chic street cafes overlooking the sea. Other attractions for the family include the Aquarium, water park, carting track with tunnels, Vineyard tours, mountain trips and a good choice of family friendly blue flag beaches.
Peyia :
Peyia is a very popular and charming village situated on a gently sloping hillside overlooking Coral Bay. It is very traditional in look and feel with little winding streets and traditional stone houses with an old village church and shops at the centre. Peyia offers visitors a good selection of amenities including banks, doctors, two supermarkets, a fantastic bakery, butchers, fishmongers, DVD shop and launderette. It also offers a good selection of traditional tavernas where you can try the local fish or meat meze, or you can try Sophies that offers themed food evenings throughout the week.
Coral Bay :
The famous sandy beaches at Coral Bay are just a few minutes drive from Peyia and Coral Bay can be seen from Peyia. Coral Bay offers visitors an alternative selection of shops and restaurants with everything from Italian, Chinese, Cypriot and Indian cuisine. Several of the larger hotels in Coral Bay have very good health spas.
Ski:
Cyprus offers both sun shine and snow. The Troodos Mountains offer good ski-ing in the winter and great climbing and mountain biking terrain in the summer.
Golf:
For the Golf Enthusiast - There are two excellent Golf courses within half an hour, the most famous of which is Aphrodites Hills a five star Gold resort which hosts many Golf tournaments supported by celebrities. Next to Aphrodites Hills is Secret Valley Golf Course. Both are open to the public.
