The Costa Blanca (White Coast) is one of the most cosmopolitan areas in Europe, also boasting over 200 km of coastline made up of some of the most spectacular scenery and finest beaches on the Med. Many of the beaches, including the ones around Moraira, enjoy a 'Blue Flag' status- the highest award given within the EU.
You will also find with a short drive inland are hillsides covered with vineyards and citrus orchards.
The Costa Blanca is reputed to have one of the worlds’ best climates in which to live a long and healthy life, enjoying on average 300 days of sunshine per year, with summer temperatures rarely falling below 30c- winters are usually mild at around 18c .
There are also a lot of things to do with children. For example you could visit the seasonal attractions of Terra Mitica (Theme Park with roller coasters etc) Aqualandia - a must for fans of water parks as it's the biggest one in Europe. Next to it is Mundomar which is a huge marine theme park.
CUMBRE DEL SOL (Mountain of the Sun) is an exclusive residential area only about 10 minutes drive from the small, pretty fishing town of MORAIRA. However, because of its elevation, the views from Cumbre del Sol across the Mediterranean are superb and on most days you can see the Balearic Islands. The local beach, Playa del Moraig, is about 1.5 kms from the villa and is a small, picturesque cove used almost entirely by local residents. Facilities include a small beach-bar, toilets, and the hire of sun-beds and parasols. Elsewhere on Cumbre del Sol you'll find excellent restaurants, an international supermarket, banks, and a pharmacy; for the more energetic there are also tennis courts and a horse riding centre.
Moraira town is an attractive blend of the old and the new with a wide selection of boutiques, shops, bars and some excellent restaurants offering a wide choice of Spanish and international cuisine. Moraira's main beach, L'Ampolla, at the foot of the castle, is an ideal 'family' beach with lots of golden sand and excellent facilities while just 1.5 kms away is EL PORTET. Surrounded by steep hills, this sheltered bay with its gently sloping beach is perfect for safe swimming. A traditional weekly market takes place in Moraira every Friday. Besides buying fresh vegetables and fruit, you can find a large selection of other merchandise such as plants, leather goods, and many other products from local craftsmen.
CALPE, with its numerous sandy beaches, is about 30 minutes drive away. Here you'll also find the majestic Rock of Ifach. It was originally called the 'Northern Rock' by Phoenician traders in order to distinguish it from Gibraltar. The volcanic Rock measures over 300 m high.
