The area:
Thurso is a perfect base to explore the many attractions of Caithness. The infamous John o’Groats with its breathtaking scenery and unrivalled coastline, is a 30 minute drive. Here there are daily ferries along the coast & regular sailings to Orkney. The Castle of Mey, lovingly restored by the late Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother, the Dunbeath Heritage Centre & Pulteney Distillery in Wick are among many of the local visitor attractions. Thurso offers a variety of supermarkets, shops, cafes, bars & restaurants as well as a cinema & bowling facility & a swimming pool. In Caithness there are a huge variety of restaurants to suit all budgets & tastes, from award winning seafood restaurants (just 2 miles away at Scrabster) to local bars and bistros within walking distance (5 minutes walk).
FLYBE offer excellent priced flights from Edinburgh to Wick (Monday to Friday (& Sunday flights from 25 October 2009) and a Railway station situated in Thurso, just half a mile from the townhouse.
The townhouse:
The townhouse is perfectly situated in the centre of town, yet in a quiet area. It is conveniently located right next to the beach where the views are spectacular. Within walking distance there are cafes, bars and bistros and the shopping (great little boutiques and gift shops as well as 2 supermarkets) are all within easy reach on foot and by car.
The property is traditionally built, so benefits from a cottage feel with thick stone walls and a cosy and charming feel, yet it is freshly decorated and modernised with a fully fitted kitchen and showeroom. It is very well-equipped to ensure you have everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable break.
For children and young people, there is a PS2 and games located in one of the bedrooms, and a good selection of toys, DVD's, books and games.
There is also a large table tennis table situated in the adjoining garage for guests use.

Surfers:
The proximity to the beach; the location of the townhouse, the storage facilities for surfing equipment and wet suits and the WAVES (obviously!) make this property an ideal retreat for those folk that are passionate about surfing. The Pentland Firth has made Thurso a very popular holiday destination where the world surfing championships were hosted last year.
The Townhouse is situated at the east side of Thurso beach, so the reef is just a short distance. Being only a minute walk away, you can literally come and go in your wet suit!!!
