Photos and Description of this Chatel holiday chalet 5 bedroom ski chalet in Chatel, Portes du Soleil, near the Linga area

Comfortable ski chalet with 2 x double and 3 x twin rooms sleeping up to 10. There is one bathroom with shower over bath, sink and WC; one shower room with sink and WC; another small shower room with sink and WC; one other separate WC. The cosy dining and living room, with log fire, opens onto a balcony with lovely views along the Pre la Joux valley. The chalet stands in its own grounds with garden at rear & ample off road private parking. Located near the Linga ski area and a short walk to the bus stops, providing frequent (free) buses throughout the day, to all ski areas and the village. The village centre can be reached on foot in approx 15 mins. Although the chalet is offered on self catered basis we are here in resort and can help you with arranging: - Geneva airport transfers - Provision of linen, towels and logs if required - Ordering & collection of lift passes - Ski school, creche etc - Ski hire.

Although the chalet is situated in a quiet location, in the area known as Loy in Chatel, we are still close to a number of amenities. There is a restaurant, bread shop, small supermarket, ski shop & childrens sledging area along the road. There are also other restaurants within easy walking distance, a couple of which offer take away food. We are opposite the kindergarten ski school for 3 yrs+. The bus stops for the free shuttles are a short walk away.

Ski: Chatel is a charming traditional farming village on the vast Portes du Soleil ski domain. The Portes du Soleil streches over France & Switzerland with 650 km of pistes & 194 ski lifts. Chatel lies on the French/Swiss border and has 83 km of pistes & 47 ski lifts. Over the last few years a number of the chair lifts have been updated with highspeed lifts. This year (2009) 'Linga 2' above the Linga telecabine is being changed. The old, slow 3 person chair is being replaced by high speed chair lift. This should greatly improve the situation at Linga first thing in the morning! The whole Chatel area also now has many more snow cannons should they be needed.

“Chalet L’Optraken is a very comfortable, well situated and well equipped chalet. The bathroom and shower room have been refurbished to a very high standard and the kitchen has all you need to prepare your own meals. The skiing in Chatel & Portes du Soleil is always rewarding; many miles of piste easily accessible and very picturesque, and year after year there is always something new to explore. We have very much enjoyed staying there for many years and always have it at the top of our list to return to. ”
