Les Rious is set in 11 acres of parkland and woods with a stream. The garden, surrounded by mature trees has an abundance of lavender and rose bushes. The courtyard contains a typical potager where we grown vegetables and herbs. This is not a holiday home with bare essentials, this is our main home and is furnished as such. Everything is here for you; you can even sit at your laptop or watch English TV if that's what you want! There are five fabulous bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. A huge open-plan kitchen and sitting room means you can all be together or retreat to the study to read or use the internet (wi-fi available) For family meals there's the dining room with its enormous gilt mirror. Summers are glorious; stroll around the parkland, eat on the terrace. In Spring enjoy the froth of plum blossom and welcome 36 species of birds. You can pick your own figs in Autumn and in Winter curl up by the wood-burner with a glass of wine and re-discover a slower pace of life.

Welcome to Les Rious, our elegant yet comfortable 18th century manor house. We are situated in an area of undulating beauty, steeped in culture and history. Les Rious is half an hour from the elegant city of Toulouse or the charming city of Albi. Visit Toulouse for boutique shopping, classical architecture and a cosmopolitan buzz. Explore the medieval streets of Albi, see the stunning cathedral and the famous Toulouse-Lautrec museum. This area is one of sunflowers and vineyards in rolling hills dotted with stone villages and fortified towns and each has its colourful, bustling weekly market. Relax over long lunches with the excellent Gaillac wines (you can enjoy a 3 course gourmet meal for 16€), then explore beautiful chateaux, museums and castles. There's the world class Toulouse Palmola PGA Championship Golf Course nearby and others in the area. The 'Black Mountain' area provides everything for the outdoor enthusiast while there is superb skiing 2 hours away in the Pyrenees.

We adore staying in our beautiful manor house at Christmas. When rented, the price is 1500euros per week. Due to family illness, we are spending this Christmas in UK so our house is available. If you would like to rent it and are happy to have our two cats around (perfect for stroking in front of the fire), the price is just 900euros. It sleeps up to 10 so that's 90 euros pp for a luxury break.

Additional information about rental rates

  • PLEASE ASK IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE DIFFERENT CHANGE-OVER DAYS OR LONGER STAYS. WE TRY AND BE AS FLEXIBLE AS POSSIBLE. A deposit of 30% will secure the booking with the remainder payable 4 weeks before arrival. Refunds will not be made after this so please check your holiday insurance. A Security deposit of 300€ must be paid upon arrival and this is returned after your departure and inspection. Any phone call charges will also be taken from this.
  • Please note that the rental charge is all inclusive of electricity, gas, water and laundry. However from 30 October to 30th April, your consumption of electricity and oil will be charged. Firewood is provided free. Please allow 50€ cleaning charge at the end of your stay.

  • Each bathroom has a full sized bath and shower. The main bedroom has a separate large shower enclosure and bidet. All are new with ample lighting and mirrors and supplied with large fluffy bath-towels and soap. We also made sure there is plenty of space for your own toiletries - something lacking in many hotels!

  • Renovated in 2007, Les Rious offers modern comfort with old fashioned charm. Every bedroom is beautifully and luxuriously furnished and each has a modern ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. The main bedroom has an extra long bed, silk curtains, a mirrored dressing table and enjoys the morning sun. Reflecting the magnificent magnolia tree in the garden, the Magnolia room is luxurious and decadent. The bed is 5' x 7', the fireplace and tabletops of black marble. The Orchid Bedroom is charming and fanciful. From the beautiful chandelier to the large roll-topped bath, it reflects a time of gracious living. The Lily double bedroom is light and bright, decorated in shades of white and green. It has a country, relaxed feel and the largest bathroom (apart from the main bedroom). The dramatic Lilac bedroom is certainly different with its' double eight ceiling and views across the valley. A travel cot, changing table and high chair can be provided for young babies.

Notes: The large open plan sitting room and kitchen means no-one is shut away, the 'wow factor' being the enormous oak work surface separating the two rooms. We love cooking and the kitchen was designed and fully equipped to make this easy and practical. There is a separate larder and utility room so that washing and ironing is well out of sight. It is a light bright room with french windows leading out on to the terrace. In winter the wood-burning stove makes this huge room very cosy. If you need to sit at a desk and catch up on emails, there is the study with wi-fi - and plenty of books and a leather sofa. When you all want to gather around the dining table, the dining room is bright and airy in daytime, but magical at night with huge gilt mirror, chandelier and candles. The large oak table sits 10 and all is provided. Enjoy the ambiance of a real manor house.
