Photos and Description of this Central Athens holiday apartment
1 bed apartment sleeps 4 in traditional safe neighbourhood very close to centre

A comfortable and convenient 1 bedroom apartment. Although semi-basement or lower-ground floor it is south facing and is light and sunny. This makes it cosy in the winter and cool in the summer. You enter through a new security door into a large hall. There is a small but modern kitchen, a good bathroom, comfortable double bedroom and living room with double sofa bed. All rooms are accessed from the hall so the living room can be closed off to make a second bedroom if four people are staying. It is on a quiet, wide street in a very good neighbourhood. There is no balcony but just round the corner you will find traditional cafes and souvlaki shops where you can sip a coffee and watch the world go by. The owner is British and has lived in Greece for 18 years. He lives ten minutes away and can always be reached on his mobile to help in any way.

Location: Central Athens in Athens

Nearest Train : Metro (Ambelokipi) at 300 Metres
Car: not necessary

A 5 minute walk to the Ambelokipi metro station (or less!) and only 3 stops to Syntagma and 4 to the Akropolis yet in a quiet, old fashioned and safe residential area. Direct metro link to the airport. Plenty of local shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. The locally famous Mavilli square is 15mins walk for bars and clubs with the world acclaimed Athens Concert Hall just beyond it. A lovely big square with a traditional church is at the end of the road where you can sip coffee with the old men while they play backgammon. There is also a weekly market here. In the summer months a nearby hotel has an excellent roof top pool with some of the best views in Athens. Overall this is about as close as you can get to the centre without suffering the noise, pollution and crowds. And at a fraction of the price.

Good value apartment

Review Submitted: November 24, 2010 Date of Stay: November 2010
The apartment was good value for a weeks stay and very well located for exploring Athens and getting to/from the airport using the metro system.

The apartment was well equipped and clean. The owner was very helpful in providing information about Athens.

Become temporary an athenian

Review Submitted: October 13, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
For those who plan a citytrip to Athens and thereby want to taste the typical greek atmosphere, rather than to stay in the tedious, stereotypic environment of a hotel, I can recommend Christophers appartment. This comfortable, clean, well looking residence is situated in a lively part of the city. As it is close to the Ambelokipi metro station, it allows easy access to either touristic sites, the main bus and train stations or the the airport. It has a well equipped kitchen and grocery and bakery are just behind the corner. But even for those who do not prefer self-cooking, there are a lot of small taverna's, ouzeries or café's, frequented mainly by greeks, where one can eat and drink on democratic prices, while observing the busy life in the surrounding small streets. To drink a frappé or a beer with some friends, one may choose a table on a pleasant shaded plaza near the frequently visited orthodox church at the end of the street or near the beautiful concert hall Megaro Mousikis which is at walking distance.

The fact that the appartment is semi-basement and hence has no direct view on the street, might only be annoying for those who are used to be ascertained of the weather of the day as soon as they awake. For whatever helpful information, there is always Christopher who remains always approachable to give an answer to your questions.

A couple of days living in this area may transform you partly in an athenian. Whether you travel alone - as I did - or with friends or with your family, it is worthwile to try it!

Good location/price. Great base to explore Athens!

Review Submitted: July 19, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010
We stayed for 5 nights from 21st to 26th June 2010 with our two young children (4 & 7 years old) and it was just right for our needs; a fairly central base from which to explore the city.

This is a basement apartment and was as advertised. There are two ground level windows providing ample light into the living room (with double sofa bed) and bedroom (double bed and sofa / single bed). There is also a hallway connecting all the rooms with double doors into the living room, which stops it from feeling cramped. We also appreciated the 2 portable fans in the apartment.

As for location, it really is about as good as it gets for seeing Athens; a few minutes walk from Ambelokipi metro in a very safe residential area, which didn't have much passing traffic and is close to the police station (though we didn't hear a single siren).

Ambelokipi is only a couple of metro stops from tourist attractions, so you can get around the city very quickly, which we really appreciated since we had the children with us.

It isn't in the middle of a tourist area so the restaurants in the nearby square offer good quality food at a very reasonable price (we regret not going there on our first night!). There was also a great ice cream shop across the main road from the the square.

Christopher and his wife were extremely helpful and very responsive from start to finish be it via phone, email or text message.

Peaceful and clean apartment

Review Submitted: May 16, 2010 Date of Stay: April 2010
The apartment itself is clean and well-eguipped. The situation is excellent, near the Ambelokipi metrostation. It's also close to conveniences and cultural events (concerts). The neighborhood is peaceful and excellent for long walks or for those who just enjoy spending time at local kafenions. The landlord is friendly and very helpful.

The only disturbing thing is the situation of the apartment, which is in the cellar. That means there is no view.

A good choice for shorter or longer holidays!

Excellent value in a convenient location

Review Submitted: April 7, 2010 Date of Stay: March 2010
We stayed in this apartment for 5 nights last week (over Easter 2010).

The apartment says it sleeps 4 but actually we reckon it could have comfortably fitted 5, if one person does not mind a smallish sofa bed.the apartment was equipped with everything we needed including some extras we did not expect for the price, such as a DVD player and selection of english books!

The property was very clean and well presented, having just been refurbished. The owner was extremely friendly and accomodating.

In terms of location the property was excellent- only a couple of mins walk from Syntagma metro station (the metro runs until midnight during the wk and until 2pm on weekends). There were plenty of shops (a couple of supermarkets, bakers, off-licences) in the area and there is a pleasent square nearby (shown in the picture) where you can sit and have dinner / a coffee. Taxis appeared plentiful in athens and taxis from monistiraki and Gazi (where lots of bars etc are located) only cost EUR5-10 at night if you are coming back late.

i would definately stay here again, and will bear it in mind should any friends or family members happen to be visiting athens in the future.
