This pretty 3 bedroom stone cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard. It has a fully fitted kitchen, modern bathroom and a cosy lounge with satellite TV and wood burning fireplace. Off the kitchen is a covered sitting area ideal for outdoor dining featuring the original breadoven. The large garden is very tranquil and has a large swimming pool (secure). Set amidst two hectares of French countryside, La Roche du Lac is a calm and peaceful spot … your only neighbours are the sheep .. the only sounds you will hear are the birds singing and the nearby river. The location is stunning … the nearest village is an easy 15 minute walk while a 30 second walk along a quiet country lane takes you to a beautiful lake perfect for picnics. The lake is well stocked with fish for the angler and has a superb restaurant across the footbridge. There is also a children’s playground and mini golf. For the serious golfer Chateau des Forge boasts 27 hole course on 180 hectares at 15 mins

Nearby sites of interest include the Roman ruins at Sanxay and the ancient silver mines at Melle. The chateaux of the Loire make for a pleasant daytrip. Within 50 min are the sandy beaches of the Vendée and Charente Maritime, including La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, Les Sables d'Olonne and La Tranche sur Mer. If you want a change of pace then the tranquil setting of the Marais Poitevin, with its Venise Vert waterways are just 20 min away. For kids of all ages the Futuroscope theme park is an hour away near Poitiers (airport), the history adventure park at Puy du Fou is an easy drive, and for the adults the local vineyards offer tastings plus of course the famous Cognac houses are within easy reach for tours and tastings. Bordeaux (airport) is 2 hours drive.
