Beaches:
To sum up the attractions of the wild countryside of Puglia is not an easy task. There are however things to do and see that will appeal to everyone. The area is surrounded on both sides by 500 miles of the most amazing beaches where you can bathe in the clean, blue water of the Aegean and Ionian Sea. Some beaches have 'paid for' areas, where you can hire beds and umbrellas, in season, but the vast majority are free. The nearest beach to Villino Rosa is Villanova beach about 10 minutes drive away.
Restaurants and Food:
Within only 10 to 20 minutes drive there are many hill towns that offer a host of historical and other tourist attractions as well as a selection of some of the finest restaurants and osteria in the region.Pugliese dishes will astonish you, and you won't be able to resist their unique, fresh and genuine flavours, because in Puglia there's a deep-rooted culinary tradition, composed mostly of simple dishes, made with local products.
Parks, Activities and Local Towns:
For those who want an active holiday, there are Bike Trekking and Sea Watching organized excursions which you can take part in. A trip to the Zoo Safari and Theme Park in Fasano is a winner with children, while for those rainy days, there is a tenpin bowling/amusement arcade on the road from Ostuni to Pilone and in Monopoli there is a 'play planet' indoor centre for children (that serves real pizza!). For those of you who just want to switch off and immerse yourselves in the local atmosphere, the town of Albertobello in the Itria Valley is fascinating, the vast grottos of Castellano are amazing, and even shopping for local produce is a pleasure, due to the quality, freshness and variety of the local pasta, fruit, fish and wines. Alberobello is a designated UNESCO world heritage site, with its beautiful coned trulli houses and their white-washed walls and is definately worth a visit.
