Traditionally built in the Algarve style, Casa Alegre is a welcoming family owned self-catering villa, set in a quiet rural location in the Algarve, Portugal, renowned for its' sunny climate. The villa makes an ideal base for a family holiday, where you can relax by the pool, go for walks in the lovely countryside, explore the towns and villages of the region, or seek out the many sandy beaches along the magnificent Algarve coastline. The villa has a large fully furnished living/dining room, with TV, DVD player, radio, children's puzzles and games, a well appointed kitchen, master bedroom with queen size bed and en suite bathroom, two further twin bedrooms and second bathroom. The sitting room leads onto a covered terrace with table and chairs for alfresco meals, gated at each end for children's safety. The pool area has lounging chairs and umbrellas, also gated for safety. Linen and towels provided. We have two large travel cots, a high chair and changing mat.

Casa Alegre is situated in a rural location, in a small exclusive development at Fazenda Caravela, from where you can see the 2 new Amendoeira Golf courses, the entrance to which is within 5 minutes drive. Our nearest villages are Algoz, (5kms), with its covered food market, bakery/snack bar, and restaurants. The ancient town of Silves, with its magnificent Moorish castle ruins and Cathedral, is ten minutes drive away, and has shops, a supermarket, banks, trips up the River Arade to Portimao, and is en route for the Monchique mountains and Caldas Spa. Restaurants specialise in fresh fish dishes and local cuisine. Zoomarine dolphin and sealion park is within a few minutes drive, as well as a waterslide park. There is a whole coastline to explore, with amazing cliff top walks, sandy beaches, and access to watersports. Silves, Salgados and Vilamoura golf courses are within driving distance,. Lagos, Sagres, Tavira and Portimao are all within reach and well worth a visit,

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rental may be paid in Euros to an account in Portugal if preferred, but normally by cheque to the owner.

    One third deposit required to secure the booking, to be deducted from final invoice, payable by cheque to the owner six weeks before departure. A written confirmation of the booking will then be sent to the guests.

    On settlement of the final invoice, printed instructions and a map of the site will be sent to the guests, showing how to get to Casa Alegre from Faro Airport (a journey of approx 40 minutes by car).


    A security deposit of £100 (payable by separate cheque) for the holiday, is also required, to be returned uncashed after guests return home if there are no breakages or damage in the villa.
  • It is strongly recommended that guests take out travel insurance to cover any cancellation of the holiday, or illness whilst on holiday. Each guest should also have a European Union health card available online free of charge from the National Health Service (see our website for details.)

We have been three times in spring to this lovely villa nestling in the orange groves.It provides a relaxing holiday with a variety of walks, visits to the nearby attractive villages and easy access to the sea.
The property was very clean and nicely furnished with a friendly maid who came daily to clean.
We would definitely recommend this villa.

Casa Alegre

My family and I have spent three wonderful holidays in Portugal using Casa Alegre as our base. It is a beautiful location, quiet, peaceful and an ideal place to unwind and make the most of this part of the country. It is close to some great golf courses, lovely beaches and towns / villages worthy of a visit and further exploration.
The facilities Casa Alegre can offer are first class for adults and children alike. We spent many happy hours in and around the pool and in the evening dining outside. There were many board and card games available to keep adults and children occupied and amused.
The property was cleaned and tidied daily to a high standard,except Sundays, by a local lady who lived nearby.
Casa Alegre is lovely property set in a beautiful location and one I can totally recommend. We shall certainly be returning.

Excellent holiday for young families

We have stayed several times as Casa Alegre and will continue to visit and recommend to friends. It is perfect for young families as it is all on one level, the private pool area is totally gated and it has all the facilities you need such as cot, high chair, blender etc. There are lovely sandy beaches near by and plenty of other things to keep everyone entertained. The property has fabulous views, its own pool and garden and is totally secluded. Perfect family get away.

Just a few words to say Thank You for a wonderfull October break at the Villa. As usual the facilities were impecable and the quiet setting just the ticket for recharging the batteries ready for the English winter !

Algarve Idyll

I've been 5 times now and it's brilliant, so quiet, very relaxing with a lovely pool. I picked oranges from the trees in the garden to make fruit juice for breakfast.

I have used the log fire when it's been cold and it is very efficient, and warms up the whole villa.

The property is very clean with the maid coming in every day, and it is exceptionally well-equipped.

It is fairly central for sightseeing the central Algarve, with some very good albeit basic Portuguese restaurants locally, and a very good more upmarket restaurant about 10-15 minutes drive away.

I would recommend it very highly, and in fact, I'm probably going back next year.
