IRIS is one of 12 properties located on a 1½ hectare site overlooking the picturesque village of Carlux, in the heart of the Perigord Noir. The properties are located in 4 groups, the site is surrounded on 2 sides by woods & enjoys spectacular views over the village Two bedroom Iris is equipped for 4 persons comfortably, log burning stove, TV, internet access, the double ground floor bedroom with french windows, has wonderful views over the village. Parking to the rear of the gite, allows easy unloading. French windows from both the lounge and downstairs bedroom open onto a private terrace with swing seat, table chairs overlooking the medieval village of Carlux. Night time the village the medieval castle is illuminated. The outside dining area is terraced and equipped with outdoor furniture, BBQ, underneath shaded overhang. The site has large heated swimming pool, (OPEN MID MAY CLOSED END SEPTEMBER) two play areas for differing ages of children, a badminton court & table tennis.avec

Les Gîtes de Carlux, situated 2km from the Dordogne river and 15km from Sarlat and Souillac provides an ideal base to enjoy one of France's most beautiful regions. Within 40 minutes drive you will find many of the Dordgone and Lot's principal sites including Rocamadour, Les Eyzies, Domme, Beynac and Lascaux. The network of rivers centred on the Dordogne and the Vézère ensure that the region remains lush and green throughout the year. The region boasts some of the finest cuisine in France. It is one of the major production centres for walnuts and soft fruits and its forests supply a fine range of mushrooms and truffles. It is also renowned, by locals and visitors alike, as the home of foie gras. With such fine cuisine and with the vineyards of Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cahors within close proximity, it makes for a perfect holiday destination.

Iris: The gite has a corner kitchen,incorporating gas/electric hob,microwave oven and fridge.A supply of basic condiments along with cleaning products. All gites are provided with a weekly change of bed linen and towels and your pool towels, the gite is equipped with baby bath and stair guard.

The Locality: Within the village of carlux, there is a full range of local shops,including a baker, butcher, grocer and post office.There are many excellent restaurants in the locality. A full range of shops are to be fond in SARLAT 15km,with its wonderful sat morning market, a real 'must see'. Souillac at 10km is a good size town with train station from Paris. For the sporting enthusiast, there is a wide range of water sports available on the river Dordogne.A 15 hectare lake and water park with beaches and full facilities is located 10kmaway at GROLEJAC. Canoe and Bicycle hire can be arranged on site and Golf and Tennis facilities are available within the locality. Not to be missed are the many Chateaux of the area and the magnificent gardens of Marquessac
