SPOLETO:
SPOLETO is best known for the world-famous Spoleto Festival which takes place every year from mid-June to the late July. One of the major Italian and international festivals, it offers the best in art music, and theatre. It was the inspiration for the Charleston,South Carolina, carrying the same name. Umbria’s Festival is a meeting point for Italian, American, and European cultures.

CAMPELLO SUL CLITUNNO is also renowned for its springs wth curitive waters and Fountain, mentioned in the works of Propertius, Virgil, and Pliny back in the Roman times, and later by George Byron, Corot, and Carducci. These famous waters form a charming little lake, which was sacred to the Romans who built temples there in honour of Clitunno, the god of the river.
Campello is not far from ASSISSI, an renowned tourist attraction known for its most famous citizen, St. Francis, proclaimed a saint in 1228, founder of the franciscan order and patron saint of Italy.It is also know for its famous frescoed Cathedral, and its excellent antique “Mercato”
For wine tourism, do not miss the town of Montefalco,well known for its full-bodied wine, produced with 100% Sagrantino grapes. It obtained the D.O.C. label in 1979 and D.O.C.G in 1992.
And of course, do not forget beautiful Perugia.
