With two en suite bedrooms on the upper floor, both with large 'walk in' showers and their own private balconies (and choice of two singles or a double bed) your comfort is assured. The ground floor is also equipped with everything that you need to make the most of your time at Som do Mar. This includes a fully fitted kitchen finished in natural wood with granite work surfaces, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. In addition there is a utility room with fridge/freezer and washing machine and a separate WC with another walk in shower. The open plan design downstairs provides all your home comforts. Furnished with dining table and four chairs adjacent to the kitchen, a bright and spacious sitting area with 2 x 2 seater sofas and 2 armchairs, coffee table and satellite TV (50+ channels). These comfortable rooms all look over and lead onto, the sunny terrace area that surrounds the whole house. Step outside onto the terrace and enjoy the magnificent views.

SOM DO MAR has a privileged location in the seaside village of Vila Calheta which because of its position at just above sea level enjoys a sub tropical climate. The all year warmth is only possible at very low altitudes on the south coast of the island. Som do Mar is an ideal base from which to explore the local Levada walks and countryside before returning for a quick swim in the lagoon and that pre-dinner drink. The Levada system with 2000 kms of walking through beautiful mountain countryside and there are walks for all levels of fitness. Vila Calheta has a swimming lagoon and Marina with restaurants and bars all within a 10 min. stroll. There is a well equipped supermarket , Multi media centre, Art Gallery and working Sugar Cane Museum again all just a short walk away. Guest may arrange excursions whale / dolphin watching or fishing including big game fishing. No holiday would be complete without a visit to the capital of Funchal with its busy market and botanical gardens .
