El Carmen:
Extremely well presented two bedroom apartment on the El Carmen complex, El Cotillo. Desirable situation on a quiet complex, but only 10 minute walk to harbour, beach, astounding lagoons, restaurants and bars. Bus stop only a couple of minutes to many destinations on Fuerteventura.
El Cotillo:
El Cotillo is a small village at the northern end of Fuerteventura, on the west coast. The village is set around the small harbour that is mostly used by local fishermen. The harbour where the boats are to be found is actually relatively new. The old harbour is only a short walk to the north over the headland that separates the two. There are several bars and restaurants close to the old harbour and the views from El Toston (the tower) are particularly pleasing.
The tower is open to the public. In the tower you can find a tourist information centre of sorts, and there are also activities and exhibitions held there regularly. Even though the tower was built as a defence against English pirates, some of the information leaflets are in English.
El Cotillo has also developed as a Surf town with the Beaches and Reefs to the north and south of the town attracting Windsurfers/Kite-boarders and Surfers from all over the world. The reefs shelter the small lagoons at the northern end.
Fuerteventura:
Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands, and in addition to the fabulous weather, boasts truly outstanding landscapes such as the famous Mount Tindaya, enormous sand dunes and more than one hundred and fifty long sandy beaches. The stretches of crystal clear waters and pure white sandy beaches rival those found in the Caribbean.
Fuerteventura lies just to the south of Lanzarote and is close to the equator hence the fantastic holiday weather.
The small villages along the coast provide an abundance of culture and tradition in the chapels, castles and host of museums. Historical tours displaying various local craft work such as openwork, basket making, wood and clay. Inland there are many charming villages such as Betancuria, at one time the islands capital, Tefia, Villaverde, La Oliva and Antigua. El Cotillo a charming coastal town in the North of the island is famous for it's Lagoons and Seafood Restaurants.
