Finestrat:
The lovely old village of Finestrat which lies very near to Benidorm is very unusual, insofar as it is an inland mountain village and also a small tourist resort by the sea, called Cala Finestrat. The village, which hugs the mountain side of Puig Campana, has beautiful views from the mountains down to Benidorm and the sea; the architecture has a distinct Moorish influence. It's a 'village' with a small selection of restaurants, plenty of cafes & bars with entertainment and some shops all with easy access to the attractions of Benidorm just a few minutes drive away. And you can also drop into La Cala just around the corner for good restaurants and a quiet beach. In the summer there's an art and crafts market in the afternoon along the seafront and a large weekly market in the village on Fridays all year round. Terra Mittica and Terra Natura are a few minutes by car or taxi as is the extremely popular shopping complex 'La Marina' and the Carrefour & Lidl hypermarkets.
Benidorm:
Benidorm boasts two fantastic beaches with 4 miles of soft golden sand, an outstanding year round climate and an incredible variety of entertainment both in and out of town making Benidorm the Mediterranean's favourite year-round resort. There is the delightful Old Town with its marvellous selection of shops and boutiques. There are pubs and clubs galore, from 'olde worlde' to the newest disco sounds; there are adventure and theme parks with the wildest rides and shows and performances the like of which you've never seen at home. For the active person there are also numerous water sport facilities, golf courses and a Go Kart track.
Places to Visit:
Los Olivos is ideally placed with many beaches, golf courses, shops and restaurants and attractions within a short distance including Terra Mitica (Disney style park), Terra Natura (nature park), Aqualandia (water park), Mundomar (sea world), Benidorm Palace (stage show with dinner) and the Castillo Conde de Alfaz for a medieval show of fighting and jousting. There are many places to visit a little further afield from caves to safari parks. Go by car or book a coach excursions at the travel agents. The village of Gata is famous for its wicker goods and also has a factory producing 3000 hand made guitars and mandolins a year which is open to visitors. Just a little south of Benidorm are the Cueavas de Canalobre with some spectacular stalactites and stalagmites where music concerts are held periodically. For a trip into the hills head towards Callosa to see the waterfalls and continue to Guadalest, a village perched on top of a gigantic rock well known for hand made lace handkerchiefs.
