Bandol is a very “French” resort - with a long tradition of welcoming tourists. Amongst its' first distinguished guests tourists were Thomas Mann, Aldous Huxley, Marcel Pagnol and Raimu. They made Bandol a holiday destination long before Brigitte Bardot and St Tropez. There are sandy beaches, lovely inlets and creeks - a very attractive environment surrounded by hills of pines and willows. Bandol's port is home to over 1,500 boats of all sizes: luxury yachts, traditional sailing and fishing boats. The crystal clear waters and interesting underwater sealife make this an ideal location for scuba divers. Surrounding the town the vineyards of Bandol are justly famous: the red wines are powerful but velvety, the rosés are fruity and racy and the whites, full bodied and fine. Evenings are lively with the many restaurants and café bars the centre of attraction - some with music - and the nightly 'midnight' market all along the sea front.
