Photos and Description of this Calheta holiday house 5 Bedroom house in Estreito with 180 degree views of the Atlantic Ocean

Ilidios House is very Madeiran in style and character. It is surrounded by grape vines and vegetable gardens. There are several 'sitting & contemplating' areas! There are lawn areas for children to play safely. You will enter the house through the utility room a light and bright room with ferns hanging from the roof almost to the floor - the washing machine is positioned here. The kitchen is pretty in pine - it is well equipped with a range cooker, a small grill, coffee maker and lots of crockery, cutlery and pans - enough to satisfy even the choicest of chefs. There is a shower room and toilet and the ground level and a single bedroom close by. The sitting room has a television and a bar! To the front of the sitting room (on the ocean side) is the conservatory. A lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down in the cooler months. It is from the conservatory you climb the spiral staircase to 4 more bedrooms, another bathroom and the outside upper terrace

Estreito Calheta is well placed to explore the rest of the island. It is within a 10 minute drive of the only yellow sandy beaches on the island. Also in Calheta there is a marina with several of the boating fraternity offering 'whale watching', 'dolphin spotting' and deep sea fishing opportunities. A short drive away or a steep walk! and you are onto the Levada systems, the nearest being the Levada Nova. This is a narrow water canal than allows water to be moved from the top of the island to the fertile vegetable and fruit growing areas, further down the land.
