This quaint little ground floor apartment is at the rear of our main house which is located in a residential area near St Catarina Park. Ideal location for sight seeing and very convenient for easy walking into the downtown. Quinta Elena is a large comfortable traditional style house and is advertised separately on this site. The apartment with its own entrance has a comfortable bedroom with double bed, & duvet; spacious sitting room with bed settee(for third person), dining table, flat screen TV/DVD, broadband (ethernet cable available ~ordered/payable in advance €15 per week). The newly modernised kitchen has a gas cooker with hood, fridge/freezer, microwave and breakfast table. Bathroom has shower over bath, basin & W.C, all with modern fittings. Covered porch area has a washing machine and outside, the sunny entrance area has a small table/two chairs. Quinta Elena which sleeps 4/6 people can be booked together with the apartment. Prices quoted for 2 people (3rd person extra).

Funchal is the well known and interesting capital of Madeira - an island famous for its all round year very mild and pleasant climate, and renowned for the masses of flowers and spectacular flowering trees. Near to the house & apartment is the lovely St. Catarina´s Park with its viewing areas over the harbour where you can see the cruise ships arriving and departing. Within easy walking distance of the apartment you have many good quality restaurants, shops and bars and also The Casino. The city centre is only a 10/15 minutes easy downhill walk away with museums, quality shops, restaurants, outside street cafes, wine cellars and the cathedral; just some of the highlights. Visits can be made by cable car to both the gardens at Monte and also the Botanic Gardens and you can and also enjoy the downhill toboggan ride in a basket. Buses go in all directions to various parts of the Island. Levada walking is very popular and two man made beaches make sea swimming possible.
