Asturias holiday cottage: Pico Los Rozos

The Cottage: Los Balagos has been thoughtfully restored. The cottage is divided into two stories. Upstairs, under the high-beam wooden ceiling and loft is the bedroom complete with a queen size bed made up of fresh sun dried and ironed sheets. It includes a sitting area, the blue and white en-suite bathroom and a wood burning stove with plenty of firewood provided so you can enjoy the chillier nights and winter stays. Down the outside stairs is the nicely equipped kitchen and dining area. Note: the low ceiling in the kitchen makes it uncomfortable for anyone over 6'3' (190cm). A terrace wraps around the front and side of the house and there is a private garden area in front with an ocean view for meals and sitting out. Behind the cottage is the organic vegetable garden where you are invited to pick the herbs and flowers. We are happy to share the overabundance of the garden.

Organic and Clean : Enjoy our organic lifestyle. Our linens are washed in natural soaps and sun dried. The chickens are the first step in the composting process. We do not own a tractor or heavy farm machinery and there is no traffic. Organic dry food items are available for purchase and we are always happy to share the seasonal abundance of the garden. We invite you to bide your time here relaxing and walking the old paths leading off the property to include the Camino de Santiago, an old pilgrim route, or spend your days exploring the many beaches and villages along the coast, the farming communities inland and the spectacular moutains throughout Asturias. We are happy to translate and help you make any reservations. We enjoy sharing our love and knowledge of the area. There is a good deal of information in the cottage to include our own local guide of favourite beaches, routes, markets and restaurants.

More about Asturias: The cities of Avilés, Oviedo and Gijon are all less than an hour away by car for nightlife, Aquarium, Botanical Garden, museums, cultural events and shopping. You may also take the train in. Asturias has numerous natural parks all of which are worth a visit. Somiedo, Muniellos, Redes and Picos de Europa. The Folk museum in Grandas de Salime is a wonderful look into the past and well worth the 2 hour drive. For those of you considering a car-less holiday it is possible. There are local taxis willing to pick you up, wait while you shop and then bring you up. Just a phone call away they can pick you up anytime and anywhere during your stay. Some like to walk to the beach and ride back. We and local bars are happy to call for you.
